The roll out of Qualtrics EX management solution to NTT Group’s 150,000 employees in Japan is a major initiative that will help the company to improve its employee engagement and productivity levels.

When it comes to developing internal and external relationships, Utah-based experience management (EX) solutions provider Qualtrics has noticed a rise in demand for XM technologies in Japan. With this, the SAP-owned company has announced plans to open a new data center in the country to assist Japanese businesses and government agencies in their pursuit of improved experiences for customers, employees, partners, as well as the brands and products they represent.

Qualtrics has proven crucial in the success of Japanese businesses in improving customer retention and acquisition rates, as well as enhancing talent management. With the data center in the country, the company will be able to better assist enterprises and government organizations in meeting data sovereignty and security standards.

As part of its ongoing efforts to support Japanese enterprises, Qualtrics has announced that NTT Group is the latest corporation to adopt its EX management solution. The NTT Group is a global telecommunications operator with headquarters in Chiyoda City, Tokyo — providing fixed-line and mobile telephone services, internet access, and data communications around the world. By adopting the Qualtrics EX solution called Qualtrics EmployeeXM, the NTT Group will be able to collect and analyze data on employee satisfaction in order to improve the work environment and support its workforce. (InsideSAP Asia often references articles from websites in other languages to bring you as much information as possible.)

Adapting to upcoming changes in the business landscape, including the acceleration of digital transformation (DX), NTT Group changed its medium-term management plan called “Your Value Partner 2025” in September 2021. Implementing a new management style that emphasizes remote work is one such adjustment taken by the company.

In order to speed up the process of actively promoting diverse human resources, NTT Group has also established new targets for the percentage of mid-career hiring and the percentage of women appointed to managerial and executive roles. According to the company’s press release, its organizational goals also include fostering the development of systems and settings like the job-based personnel system.

Accelerating Digital Transformation with Qualtrics EX Platform

To better engage its 150,000 employees and cultivate individuals who understand and support the company’s management and HR priorities, NTT Group set out to do its DX strategy with the help of Qualtrics. The Group’s employee experience can be enhanced and the quality of service to customers can be maintained by providing a workplace in which employees feel valued and free to contribute their full range of talents.

Madoka Ikeda, General Manager, Diversity Promotion Office, General Affairs Department at NTT, said that the company will evaluate worldwide standards, other firms in Japan, and NTT Group subsidiaries by researching questions that are widely used around the world, as well as questions developed by NTT Group itself. She further shared in a statement:

“We will continue to promote initiatives to increase the number of highly engaged employees who sympathize with the company or organization’s policies and strategies, take pride in their work, and work on their own initiative.”

Honored to have NTT Group as one of its clients leveraging Qualtrics EX solution, Satoru Kumashiro, Head of Japan at Qualtrics, explained that the XM solutions provider is constantly promoting reforms that are ahead of the times. These include changing to a management style that looks ahead to the post-COVID 19 pandemic setting, strengthening domestic and global businesses in line with the progress of digital transformation, and improving corporate value through environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.

“Personal values are diversifying, and what employees want from a company is changing. Under these circumstances, companies are required to make major changes in order to attract excellent human resources and ensure continuous growth. Like NTT, it will be essential to develop highly engaged employees who empathize with management and personnel strategies and take pride in their work voluntarily. By using Qualtrics’ solutions, we hope that NTT Group as a whole will be able to develop such proud employees and achieve our management goals,” Kumashiro concluded.

The adoption of SAP SuccessFactors HR solutions has allowed Vietnamese businesses to streamline their operations and focus on providing a better experience for their employees.

Organizations are at an inflection moment in terms of employee experience as they try to accommodate a growing number of remote workers without sacrificing company culture, agility, or productivity, according to a new Forrester report jointly published by tech companies SAP, Qualtrics, and EY. The research also showed that investing in the employee experience pays off in huge dividends for the business as a whole.

Additionally, 59% of human resource (HR) managers and 67% of business leaders believe that employee experience efforts have a favorable effect on workforce agility. The majority of workers (80%) believe that focusing on the employee experience has a positive impact on their productivity and quality of their work. On the other hand, 77%  of HR managers have reported an increase in revenue as a result of employee experience programs, and 61% have indicated an increase in profitability.

Earlier this month, SAP hosted a dialogue program dubbed Sustainable Workforce – Trends Impacting Your People, which drew HR managers and executives from a diverse variety of industries. The event was an opportunity for attendees to discuss the challenges and opportunities they face when it comes to sustaining a workforce. Topics of discussion included the impact of automation on employment, the role of technology in employee experience, and the need for upskilling and reskilling programs.

Human experience at work is becoming increasingly essential for businesses to maintain a productive and engaged workforce in the modern economy. Daikin Vietnam, Vietcombank, NovaGroup, Techcombank, and Coca-Cola, among other Vietnamese enterprises, understand the importance of — or the seriousness with which they should approach — the employee experience.

Noting that organizations that truly want to fulfill their potential as sustainable, intelligent enterprises place people at the heart of everything they do, Nguyen Hong Viet, Managing Director at SAP Vietnam, shared:

“Connecting data, technology, and business strategy enables every organization to create a sustainable workforce where employees have the agency to shape their careers and feel valued for their contributions is paramount to meet your desired business goals. Companies that embark on digital HR transformation will enjoy faster rates of innovation, higher market share gains, and greater operational efficiencies than their industry counterparts.”

Implementing SAP SuccessFactors HR Technologies

To further enable HR as the strategic business partner, Daikin Vietnam — a market leader in the country’s heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry — is embracing digital transformation. As a whole, the company’s mission is to become the “best place to work” in the country by providing exceptional service to all employees, from the time they are hired until they retire. Since this was the case, Daikin Vietnam began its HR digital transformation journey using SAP SuccessFactors, making it one of the first implementations in the country’s HVAC sector.

According to Nguyen Thanh Thuy, Head of HR at Daikin Vietnam, employees could access HR services in a completely self-service approach whenever and wherever they needed them thanks to the SAP SuccessFactors implementation. Not only did the organization eliminate up to 75% of paper-based HR decisions, but it also reduced the time it takes to complete an HR transaction from three to 10 business days.

“The deployment of SAP SuccessFactors is an integral component of Daikin Vietnam’s effort to create a more agile human resource model, and is testament to their strategic focus on the employee experience,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, accurate reporting, excessive paperwork, and delayed approval processes were the major HR difficulties Vietcombank faced before adopting SAP SuccessFactors. By the end of Phase 2 implementation, the foreign trade bank had automated and self-serviced its HR processes, increased employee productivity by helping them better connect their personal goals with the company’s, and improved employee engagement.

Hong Quang, Member of the Board of Directors and Head of HR Department at Vietcombank, further explained:

“SAP SuccessFactors allowed better transparency and access to employee data for better insights and decision-making. For example, with better insight into the current skills of our workforce, we can align training closely to our employees’ working process, and effectively re-skilling our workforce for the digital economy.”

As part of a new partnership, Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP) certified professionals will have access to Qualtrics EX (employee experience) methodologies, industry knowledge, and best practices to help them respond to, analyse, and focus on the needs of their employees.

Last February, Qualtrics and German tech giant SAP made an announcement that they will be establishing the Centre for XM Innovation in Asia. The primary goal of the initiative is to advance local and regional experience management (XM) skills. The Centre, which is supported by the Singapore Economic Board of Development (EDB), is focused on assisting businesses in redefining their customer and employee experiences in order to meet the ever-changing requirements and expectations of their respective markets.

The innovation hub is the most recent project in a series of efforts that have been launched in Singapore with the intent of building and enhancing the XM category. Initial programs also include the creation of a dedicated data centre in the country that was designed to ensure the adherence of government and enterprise clients with data security and sovereignty regulations while implementing the Qualtrics XM platform and other solutions.

This month, Qualtrics partnered with IHRP, an institute founded by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF), and the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC). IHRP is striving to modernise and elevate the HR practice in Singapore as part of its commitment to establishing the highest standards of excellence in human resources (HR) and to promote HR as a strategic enabler of businesses.

Qualtrics Head of Southeast Asia Mao Gen Foo believes that a key differentiator for attracting, retaining, and developing talent in Singapore’s competitive employment market is the ability to respond with confidence and precision in terms of improving the employee experience. He added that managing a successful transition to hybrid workplace environments also relies heavily on this ability.

“By improving EX capabilities with Qualtrics’ trusted and deep expertise, employers across the country will be able to continually make changes that meaningfully improve people’s experiences at work to unlock a range of benefits, including increased productivity, retention, and well-being,” the Qualtrics executive further explained.

Qualtrics and IHRP to Advance EX Capabilities in Singapore

IHRP’s ecosystem of more than 5,000 certified HR practitioners will be able to access professional guidance and support as a result of the alliance between Qualtrics and IHRP. This will enable them to improve employee engagement, lower staff turnover, strengthen well-being and safety, maximise hybrid work strategies, among other things. Furthermore, the new partnership also recognises that a growing number of employers are prioritising the improvement of their EX in response to the hybrid workplace transitions and talent acquisitions.

Moreover, Qualtrics EX methodologies and resources will be used by IHRP’s professional staff in listening to, comprehending, and responding to the shifting and varied needs of their workforce. Qualtrics and the IHRP will also host specialised learning events and masterclasses in Singapore in order to improve the country’s EX competencies.

According to IHRP Chief Executive Officer Mayank Parekh, HR professionals need to have access to quality tools, knowledge, and support for them to be able to make data-driven and informed business decisions. He also explained that HR practitioners continue to play a significant role in assisting organisations in the evolution of their policies and practices.

Commenting on the latest collaboration with Qualtrics, Parekh stated:

“IHRP is pleased to partner with Qualtrics on this key focus area – the frameworks, methodologies, best practices, and learnings provided will help HR professionals take their EX journey to the next level to attract and retain the best talents.”

Top ride-hailing and mobile service providers Grab and Gojek successfully navigate new pressures brought on by the COVID-19 crisis by transforming their employee experience management with support from SAP Concur Expense and Qualtrics CoreXM solutions.

Many industries have been hit hard by the pandemic and have not been able to find their footing—waiting for the opportunity to resume operations and return to normal. But the reality is that normalcy will not be the same even as restrictions are lifted. Demand, consumer behavior and confidence are already significantly changed. Many consumers are still wary of venturing too far from home, and economies are increasingly dependant on mobile services to accommodate a new socially distanced society.

As the top mobile service providers in Southeast Asia, Grab and Gojek are both at an advantage in this new pandemic economy. In Singapore, both companies were tapped by government authorities to provide support to help reduce the transmission of the virus.

Moreover, both Grab and Gojek turned their strategies to focus on supporting employees and improving experience management tactics to ensure business continuity despite the crisis and turmoil. Grab’s partnership with SAP Concur Expense and Gojek’s partnership with Qualtrics CoreXM have allowed both companies to play key roles in moving people seamlessly and meeting new consumer demands and needs.

Grab + SAP Concur Expense Solutions

Grab’s platform includes mobile service options for convenience, safety, and reliability. The company employs 2000 internal employees and more than a million drivers on its network. It currently offers services in Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Cambodia.

To help employees and drivers focus on providing exceptional services and drive the Grab business forward, the tech company had to enhance employee experience by automating its expense management system. Previously, the process was very complicated: drivers had to collect receipts every end of the month and track and input those receipts manually. Additionally, its finance team was burdened with tedious administrative processes in managing expenses and reimbursements. To resolve this, Grab turned to SAP Concur Expense solutions.

The choice to partner with SAP Concur was made because Grab wanted a partner that was very similar to its innovative thinking and cloud-focused strategy. Additionally, with SAP, many pain points were minimized in terms of system maintenance and implementation, and the company was able to automate a lot of processes.

Grab’s IT team collaborated with Concur services and was able to finish integrations within 3 months. SAP Concur provided complete knowledge transfer and comprehensive documentation so that Grab drivers could get started on the service quickly. With the integrations in place, the company’s finance team can ensure that reimbursements are made consistently and promptly.

According to Alex Tran, Head of Marketing and Operations for Grab, using Concur applications has been a delightful experience for employees: drivers can easily implement receipts onto the software, while the finance team have significantly reduced the hours required to handle the entire expense management process end-to-end.

With SAP Concur Expense soltuions, Grab was able to enhance employee experience management and provide relevant support to employees. This resulted in increased productivity, lowered costs, and overall improved business operations that allowed the company to thrive amidst the pandemic.

Gojek + Qualtrics XM

Gojek first started as a motorcycle ride-hailing call center in Indonesia, but has now evolved into a leading tech company providing multi-services platform with more than 20 services for millions of users across Southeast Asia. It operates in 204 cities across the region and currently has around 5,000 employees across Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

To scale and support the company’s rapid growth in the region, Gojek partnered with SAP-acquired Qualtrics and selected EmployeeXM and ResearchCore solutions to further understand its customers and employees—a key factor in the company’s ambitions to expand operations and reinforce competitive advantage.

With the Qualtrics XM solutions, Gojek was able to turn real-time insights into actions to provide the necessary support needed by employees during these uncertain times.

Gojek’s co-CEO Andre Soelistyo said that the company’s priority during the pandemic is to ensure customer satisfaction and help employees effectively navigate through the crisis.

The company implemented several noteworthy measures to support its drivers:

  • loan payment relief on motorcycle and car credits
  • low-interest loan program
  • income assistance for driver partners undergoing quarantine and diagnosed with COVID-19
  • increased rebates ranging from 60{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} to 100{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} for commission fees
  • $30,000 in FairPrice Online e-vouchers to help with living expenses of eligible drivers
  • access to medical masks, hand sanitizer, and vehicle disinfectant through the Gojek Safety Center
  • providing educational content on health protocols in drivers’ in-app notifications
  • distribution of affordable meals
