Integrated business automation platform SENSYN CORE, which was developed by Tokyo-based startup SENSYN ROBOTICS, is the first SAP Industry Cloud Partner solution from Japan.

By leveraging the potential of robotics, SENSYN ROBOTICS intends to advance aspects of society that are currently seen as “commonplace.” Since its founding in October 2015, the Japanese company has made great strides toward accomplishing this goal by utilizing the capabilities of robotics to fully automate previously labor-intensive tasks, such as facility checks, disaster mitigation, as well as security and monitoring.

As an SAP Partner, SENSYN ROBOTICS was one of the companies chosen to participate in the startup accelerator program, SAP.iO Foundry Tokyo, in 2021. This served as the impetus for a partnership with the German enterprise software giant to develop SENSYN CORE, a solution that helps maintain the processes of power stations operated by organizations in the oil, chemical, materials, gas, and power industries. The solution integrates SAP’s facility maintenance solution, and the SAP Asset Intelligence Network, which is powered by the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).

SAP Asset Intelligence Network uses the SENSYN CORE solution to recover stored construction and operational data, and choose the locations to be thoroughly checked, and connect those details to the platform. At which point SENSYN CORE leverages the insights to create drone flight paths that enable the drone to autonomously begin the evaluation and gather data like photographs of the plant facilities.

Acknowledging that the industry cloud initiative relies heavily on the contributions of SAP partners, SAP Global Senior Vice President and Head of Cloud Industry Program Kai Finck, said in a statement:

“With open APIs, process and data models, as well as a wealth of cloud native technologies to innovate at the vertical edge, SAP’s industry cloud is attracting partners like SENSYN ROBOTICS, who are looking to create “next business practices” for enterprises and business networks that will help accelerate the pace at which customers can address shifting business demands.”

Developing a Solution for SAP Industry Cloud Offerings

Industry cloud solutions built by SAP and its partners on an open platform offer enterprises an easy access point to new vertical solutions across a wide range of sectors, including the automotive, telecommunications, and energy industries. Businesses are able to begin the process of cost-effective business transformation and sustainable growth while managing disruptions and changes in the industry if they have solutions that are designed to be interoperable with the intelligent suite offered by SAP.

SENSYN ROBOTICS Chief Executive Officer Takuya Kitamura stated that new technologies provide an opportunity for utilities and energy providers to become safer and more efficient in their operations. He further said:

“We aim to enable reliable inspections of plant facilities through the use of digital platforms and robotics, leveraging big data and analytics to recognize and address anomalies faster, ultimately driving greater reliability and boosting productivity.”

Using acquired data, the SENSYN CORE solution is able to identify anomalies or warning signs and provides contextual commentary relevant to the observed issue. Additionally, SAP’s asset management system is linked to the findings, and the appropriate people are notified so they may take the next steps.

Moreover, the solution’s advantages for sustainability and environmental health and safety come from its potential to expand the usage of automated maintenance in place of manned support, hence decreasing the number of site visits and minimizing the potential for human error.

Congratulating all of the people involved in the collaboration, SAP Asia Pacific Japan (SAP APJ) President Paul Marriott shared in a LinkedIn post:

“For 50 years, innovation has been at the heart of our strategy and our customers’ success. And when our ecosystem of partners co-innovate with us, our impact is significantly amplified. SAP partners are a critical component of our industry cloud initiative. Together we are creating innovative solutions that help prepare our customers for shifting market and business demands.”

The German enterprise software giant’s innovative Industry Cloud solutions that are co-developed by SAP and partners aim to assist organisations in undertaking cost-effective digital transformation while achieving sustainable success in their businesses.

SAP has adopted an open ecosystem strategy, which allows the company to better leverage its innovative capabilities by making them available to its partners. A collaborative and dynamic network of partners, customers, and professionals makes up the SAP partner ecosystem. With this, customers get to choose from a diverse range of resources and providers of software-enabled services and support backed by the tech giant’s partnerships spanning the globe.

At the recently concluded SAP Partner Live digital event, SAP laid out strategic plans to co-innovate intellectual property (IP) and services with its partner ecosystem. The online conference was graced by experts who discussed the ecosystem landscape in 2022 and explored the subjects of future-proofing businesses, as well as capitalising on high-reward opportunities.

In an interview with TechTarget, SAP Senior Vice President (SVP) of Software Partner Solutions Tom Roberts indicated that partner IP occurs in a variety of forms. One of these is the IP integration technique, in which a partner develops a product that links to SAP technologies. He went on to explain that in this case, SAP and partners collaborate to develop the integration component that lies between SAP and the partner’s IP. Roberts added that the SAP Integration Suite — which is part of the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) — is used to achieve this.

Furthermore, another form of IP comes from the work done by third parties leveraging SAP BTP. Roberts contrasted this to other partner companies specialising in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or hyperscaler cloud providers that build solutions running on other platforms. According to him, the main distinction is that SAP BTP is tailored to SAP solutions and it provides access to tools like the SAP Integration Suite.

Developing Industry Cloud Solutions with SAP and Partners

It is also worth noting that the SAP Industry Cloud portfolio is one good example where SAP platforms and services integrate with partner IP. As per SAP, partners will provide 80{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} of the intellectual property for Industry Cloud, with the German tech giant contributing the remaining 20{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22}. Meanwhile, partners believe that industry clouds — which bring cloud technology to specific industry sectors — necessitate innovative collaboration in order to succeed.

Moreover, Roberts also stated that privately-held technology consulting company BearingPoint is among the numerous partners who have built offerings that integrate with SAP Industry Cloud. SAP’s sustainability solutions and BearingPoint’s extensive experience with emission calculations in the industry will be integrated as part of the two companies’ partnership to develop a new approach to monitor and optimise a product’s environmental footprint throughout its entire lifecycle.

“It is an example of where a partner that would normally contribute its IP in the form of an engagement is now doing that in codified IP that’s coming across as a solution,” he further shared.

Last month, NTT DATA Business Solutions, which dubs itself as the global IT and SAP Partner for Japanese multinational corporations, also announced that its it.calibration offering has been added to SAP’s Industry Cloud solutions portfolio. As a certified application on the SAP Store, the company’s solution now has the global reach to assist organisations in the life sciences sector in modernising their device calibration procedures with a validated offering from a trusted SAP Partner. According to SAP Life Science Global Vice President Mandar Paralkar, industry cloud partner apps that are running on SAP BTP complement the company’s intelligent suite features to achieve meaningful business outcomes.

Built on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) and running on the cloud infrastructure of its hyperscaler partners, SAP Industry Cloud solutions extend the Intelligent Enterprise strategy across different industries. The portfolio is designed to address specific core business needs of customers within their markets, including those in the professional services sector.

Being classified among the leading next-generation digital services and consulting providers globally, Infosys helps customers in more than 50 countries accelerate their digital transformation by leveraging industry expertise from its innovation ecosystem and network of alliances. As an SAP Global Strategic Services Partner, the Indian multinational company has been working closely with the German enterprise software giant to make use of its expertise and experience with industry cloud, advanced infrastructure, massive resource pool, and a variety of tools and accelerators built for expediting transformation processes. Its collaboration with SAP has already developed innovative new solutions across multiple industries such as Personalised Medicine, Clinical Trial and Supply Chain Management (CTSM), Retail Execution, and Enhanced Customer Experience to name a few.

Moreover, the Bengaluru-based IT firm is included in the first three strategic partners to assist customers in achieving process transformation through SAP Business Process Intelligence (BPI) solutions. The said partnership combines SAP BPI’s capabilities with Infosys’ implementation knowledge, as well as its extensive tools and methodologies. Taking a step ahead to further strengthen its alliance with SAP, Infosys recently unveiled a new cloud-native Business-to-Business (B2B) solution which is included in the SAP Industry Cloud portfolio for the professional services sector. Known as the Leads and Proposals Solution, it is a modular industry-specific platform based on SAP BTP. According to the company, it intends to provide a “lean yet intuitive” approach for organisations to manage pursuit cycles, enable lead nurturing, convert opportunities, and efficiently track leads.

Expanding SAP Industry Cloud Portfolio with the Infosys’ Leads and Proposals Solution

Recognising the need for professional services firms to tackle today’s challenges in managing and converting leads that affect their revenue and growth, Dinesh Rao, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Enterprise Application Services at Infosys, emphasised that the latest solution provides a great example of how Infosys and SAP can help businesses “transform into a Live Enterprise.” Commenting on the expanded partnership with the German tech giant, he said:

“We are excited to collaborate with SAP to bring this unique solution that will help our customers seamlessly optimise, extend, and transform their core business processes. Infosys’s deep domain expertise and proven experience in SAP’s offerings will drive our joint vision to deliver better results for our clients.”

Aside from being a part of Infosys Cobalt — a variety of services, solutions, and platforms that assist enterprises in their cloud journey — the Leads and Proposals Solution also integrates with SAP S/4HANA Cloud and leverages predictive analytics, SAP Conversational AI service, and SAP Analytics Cloud to drive digital transformation in the professional services industry. Additionally, a customisable dashboard is included in this comprehensive solution to improve insight into lead conversion, new customers, and the win-loss ratio.

Infosys stated that the Leads and Proposal Solution intends to reduce operational costs for partners, give an increased focus on opportunities, improve revenue growth by accelerating lead conversion rates, enhance delivery quality and decrease the number of unstaffed engagements, as well as save analysis and reporting costs through automated dashboards and KPIs.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Rhodes, Global Vice President and Head of Professional Services at SAP, believes the newly launched offering will add significant value to professional services companies as they look to drive new profitable business. He added:

“Leveraging key technologies, this agile cloud-native solution integrates into the overall lead-to-cash process with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, providing streamlined, smart opportunity management. We look forward to continued collaboration with Infosys to create innovative solutions and applications for customers who want to drive cost-effective and sustainable growth in their industry.”

Replicon is known for its new approach to enterprise time management, which includes utilizing intelligent timesheet tracking software for projects and employees. The Time Intelligence Company has offices in Australia, Canada, India, the US, and the UK.

Cloud time tracking applications leader Replicon officially began a partnership with SAP when it joined the SAP PartnerEdge program in December 2020, bringing into the fold an enterprise time management solution– Time Tracking for Service Organizations. Becoming an SAP Partner not only means getting wider customer reach by making products available in the SAP Store but, most importantly, being a partner means taking advantage of the program’s four simple engagement models designed to help partners build, sell, service, and run their solutions with SAP technology platforms.

Today, Replicon’s Time Tracking for Service Organizations has been certified as an SAP Endorsed App. To be an SAP Endorsed App, the SAP partner has to be invited for its solution to undergo a series of stringent tests before receiving the premium certification, which is an additional level of certification consisting of three main requirements: integration certification tests, cloud quality check and static security code scan.

Industry-Specific Timesheet Tracking Software

Built on the Time Intelligence Platform, Replicon’s Time Tracking for Service Organizations seamless integration with SAP S/4HANA and SAP SuccessFactors complements the capabilities of SAP solutions to ensure global governance and reduce revenue leakage. The configurable time tracking platform enables services companies to drive increased efficiency and profitability through a modern, mobile, secure, and scalable approach. Furthermore, the timesheet tracking software empowers organizations to capture, validate, and transform project time data in a modern user experience across desktop and mobile.

Expressing the company’s appreciation of the recent SAP certification, Raj Narayanaswamy, co-CEO at Replicon, said:

“We are delighted to strengthen our SAP partnership with our time Tracking for Service Organizations, now an SAP Endorsed App that is part of SAP’s industry cloud. Time tracking is essential for professional services companies. Our Time Intelligence platform will continue to complement SAP capabilities to better serve customers in their transformation journey to become intelligent enterprises.”

“The partnership signals a shared commitment to provide businesses using SAP solutions with modern user experience and a platform that provides a single source of truth. Replicon’s Time Tracking for Service Organizations extends the power of SAP S/4HANA in providing a configurable, global, employee-friendly, SaaS solution to professional services businesses,” he added.

The Replicon co-CEO highlighted that the company has been working with SAP to help customers achieve better outcomes by providing offerings that meet professional services and other industry-specific requirements.

Below are the certified functions of Replicon’s Time Tracking for Service Organizations 1.0:

  • Documentation
  • Packaging, Deployment, and Runtime

  • Extract Workers from SAP SuccessFactors
  • Extract Business Partner Customers from SAP S/4HANA Cloud
  • Map Project Status from SAP S/4HANA Cloud
  • Send Approved Timesheet Data to SAP S/4HANA Cloud

Paul West, Engagement Management and Finance Transformation Leader at PwC, shared their experience with Replicon as partners in providing the frontline practitioners with a powerful, flexible, and easy-to-use time capture capability. He said:

“This is not only because Replicon has advanced features and user experience, but also because they share our vision and desire to ultimately transform the whole concept of revenue-based time capture from traditional inputs to simply automate and review.”

“Once deployed later this year with the integration with SAP S/4HANA it can help provide us with a single source of truth for project time, allowing better engagement management and ultimately accurate billing. We are delighted that Replicon is collaborating with SAP to deliver industry cloud solutions for the professional services industry,” he further explained.
