Leveraging the single integrated cloud technology solution RISE with SAP, Indian agricultural company DeHaat will modernize and optimize its processes while also bolstering data security and conforming to internationally recognized audit and compliance standards.

A network of over 1.3 million farmers and over 10,000 rural businesses is being fostered by DeHaat, India’s biggest native full stack agricultural technology startup. It leverages artificial intelligence-enabled technology to significantly improve agricultural supply chains and output rates. DeHaat provides farmers with a variety of resources, including access to quality agricultural supplies, tailored farm consulting, finance services, and sales channels for their products.

In a recent announcement, SAP said that it would collaborate with DeHaat using the Business Transformation as a Service (BTaaS) offering RISE with SAP to help enhance the social, economic, and environmental sustainability of Indian agriculture while also encouraging the development of local microentrepreneurs. Based on the “Farmers First” principle, the group strives to improve farmers’ lives while also assisting them in boosting their productivity in the field.

According to DeHaat Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Shashank Kumar, DeHaat has always been a pioneer in using innovative technological strategies to enhance its ability to meet the needs of its stakeholders. Additionally, he said that the company’s collaboration with SAP to steer the business transformation process is a significant development in this regard.

“We will be able to redesign our supply chain through strategic data forecasting thanks to the SAP S4/HANA cloud platform rollout, and as a result, provide greater value to our partners,” Kumar explained.

In order to reimagine better financial performance, DeHaat wants to use the SAP cloud technology solution to increase data security, streamline reporting, business, and finance processes, and conform to internationally recognized audit and compliance standards. DeHaat Co-Founder and Executive Director Shyam Sundar Singh revealed that with the help of the intelligent enterprise resource planning (ERP) system SAP S/4HANA Cloud — which is used by many of the world’s largest companies — DeHaat has been able to standardize its operational processes.

“With the platform’s capacity to integrate internal apps, we are certain that we can create process excellence across the entire business by increasing visibility, improving documentation, and reducing manual interventions,” Singh remarked.

Revolutionizing Sustainable Farming with SAP Cloud Technology Solutions

SAP has been a leader in the agricultural industry, developing innovative solutions to improve farming productivity and promote more environmentally responsible food distribution networks. Last year, the German enterprise software giant hosted a virtual event  titled “A Growing ASEAN, A Hungry Population: Building Resilient and Sustainable Food Supply Chains,” where Verena Siow, President and Managing Director of SAP Southeast Asia (SAP SEA), discussed how the latest innovations and technologies can be utilized to address food security and sustainability as a resource management issue.

“Given the diverse food industries across the region which spans from production to retail and restaurants, businesses need help in gaining better end-to-end oversight over their operations, forecast demand through big data to deliver food in a timely manner, and improve supply chain efficiency – all of which could greatly contribute to the reduction of food scarcity in a sustainable way,” the SAP SEA MD shared.

Meanwhile, India has always relied on its agricultural sector, and is now the world’s second-largest producer of agricultural products by value. However, various estimates place India’s agricultural production loss at 20% owing to the country’s inefficient logistics and complex supply chain structure.

For Sanket Deodhar, Vice President of Unicorns and Digital Natives at SAP India, the use of cutting-edge technologies in agriculture, such as SAP cloud technology solutions and AI-enabled insights, may remove the element of uncertainty from farming while simultaneously increasing productivity and adaptability. Commenting on the software company’s latest collaboration with the agritech platform DeHaat, he said:

“We are excited to work with DeHaat to revolutionize India’s farming supply chain and aid production efficiency through data-driven innovation.”
