Darussalam Assets (DA), a company that owns and manages several of Brunei’s government-linked companies, has become one of the first customers in Asia Pacific & Japan (APJ) to leverage SAP Business AI in an existing SAP solution. This move marks a significant step forward in the company’s digital transformation journey as it seeks to enhance its HR processes and drive innovation across its diverse portfolio of subsidiaries.

Darussalam Assets is a company that owns and manages several of Brunei’s government-linked companies, with a portfolio of 30 subsidiaries and 14 sectors, including telecommunications, agribusiness, healthcare, education, and power utilities. The company has been at the forefront of digital transformation, adopting SAP S/4HANA shortly after its global release in 2016.

DA’s adoption of SAP SuccessFactors in 2019 has already yielded significant benefits, integrating and streamlining its talent management operations for over 9,000 employees across 30 subsidiaries and 14 sectors. The inclusion of SAP Business AI has further enhanced these processes, particularly in the area of recruitment.

According to Salehin Basir, Senior Manager of Human Capital Development at Darussalam Assets, the integration of SAP Business AI has automated routine tasks such as generating job descriptions, parsing resumes, and providing quality feedback on the spot. This has resulted in a significant reduction in the company’s hiring process, from three to four months down to just three to four weeks.

Basir emphasizes that the adoption of the AI solution has not only automated processes but also generated competency-based interview questions on the spot, leading to a more equitable and skills-based interview process. The company has seen improvements in how it manages its DA Group talent pool, with the recruitment cycle being significantly reduced.

Streamlining Talent Management with SAP Business AI

SAP Business AI is built into the SAP applications that power critical business processes. It comprises a range of AI innovations developed using extensive industry-specific data and deep process knowledge, all created using responsible AI practices.

DA’s journey with the AI solution is just beginning, with the company already exploring deeper integration and use cases in its workflow. This includes using AI to help manage differences within teams and tailor management and performance strategies to individual needs and personalities, moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach.

The company also plans to leverage AI for decision support, using data-driven insights to aid in decision-making processes. This can enable HR to make more informed decisions about personnel management and development, including succession planning.

Apurv Sharma, Senior Manager of Group Information Systems at Darussalam Assets, expresses excitement about deepening the company’s AI capabilities and tapping into SAP Business AI’s potential to further transform the business. The ultimate goal is to leverage AI not just for automation but to foster a culture of innovation that drives leadership in the industries in which DA operates.

SAP’s Commitment to Delivering Relevant, Reliable, and Responsible AI

SAP’s President and Managing Director for Southeast Asia, Verena Siow, commends Darussalam Assets for their foresight in continuing their SAP journey with the latest AI innovations. She emphasizes that SAP Business AI is focused on delivering customers the most relevant, reliable, and responsible AI, built specifically for business.

Siow highlights the tangible business benefits that SAP Business AI provides, as demonstrated by the work with Darussalam Assets. SAP looks forward to supporting DA as it continues to improve its employee processes and experience, setting new benchmarks in operational excellence.

As one of the first customers in APJ to leverage SAP Business AI in an existing SAP solution, Darussalam Assets is setting an example for other organizations in the region looking to harness the power of AI to transform their business processes and drive innovation.
