DKSH, a global market expansion services provider, has completed its SAP S/4HANA migration. The migration to the German tech giant’s intelligent enterprise resource planning (ERP) software is part of DKSH’s digital transformation journey, which aims to improve efficiency, agility, and customer service.

DKSH is a leading market expansion services provider with over 150 years of experience. The company offers a wide range of services to help its customers grow their businesses, including sourcing, marketing, sales, distribution, and logistics. DKSH operates in over 100 countries and employs over 30,000 people.

On the other hand, SAP is a global leader in enterprise software. The company’s products and services help businesses of all sizes to improve their operations, manage their finances, and make better decisions. Additionally, SAP has been a partner of DKSH for over 20 years.

SAP Asia Pacific and Japan President Paul Marriott said that DKSH is a global market expansion services provider that integrates intelligent technology, customer service, and environmental sustainability into its business model. Commenting on SAP’s collaboration with DKSH, he further added:

“We are proud of the value we continue to create on this journey with DKSH running on a foundation of SAP solutions, all implemented by SAP Cloud Success Services, to help enable greater efficiency, real-time analytics, and support its ongoing growth.”

DKSH and SAP: A Long-Standing Partnership

DKSH and SAP have worked together on a number of projects, including the implementation of SAP ERP systems at DKSH’s global operations. Moreover, SAP ERP systems are enterprise resource planning (ERP) software that helps businesses to manage their finances, operations, and supply chains. DKSH uses SAP ERP systems to support its global operations, which include sourcing, marketing, sales, distribution, and logistics.

The partnership between DKSH and SAP has also been mutually beneficial. DKSH has benefited from SAP’s expertise in enterprise software, while SAP has benefited from DKSH’s global reach and customer base. Last year, the DKSH Corporate Shared Services Center was the winner of both the Best Customer Experience Management and the Sustainability Award categories in the SAP Best Run Awards.

In 2023, DKSH began the process of migrating to SAP S/4HANA. SAP S/4HANA is a cloud-based ERP system that offers a number of benefits, including real-time data, advanced analytics, and automation. These benefits will also help DKSH to improve its decision-making, optimize its operations, and deliver a better customer experience.

The migration to SAP S/4HANA was a complex project, but it was completed successfully thanks to the close collaboration between DKSH and SAP. The project team worked closely together to ensure a smooth transition, and they were able to complete the migration with minimal disruption to DKSH’s operations.

Benefits of SAP S/4HANA for DKSH

The migration to SAP S/4HANA will bring a number of benefits to DKSH, including:

  • Improved efficiency: SAP S/4HANA is a cloud-based ERP system that can be accessed from anywhere, at any time. This will make it easier for DKSH employees to collaborate and share information, leading to improved efficiency.
  • Increased agility: SAP S/4HANA is a highly scalable and flexible ERP system. This will allow DKSH to quickly adapt to market changes, giving the company a competitive advantage.
  • Enhanced customer service: SAP S/4HANA provides a number of features that can help DKSH to improve its customer services, such as real-time data and advanced analytics. This will allow DKSH to better understand its customers’ needs and provide them with a more personalized experience.

DKSH Chief Information Officer and Member of the Executive Committee Sam Oh explained that data is a critical resource for DKSH. He said that the company uses data to improve its operations, make better decisions, and provide a better customer experience. On why DKSH selected SAP for its digital transformation journey, he further said:

“We chose SAP to help upgrade our core ERP system to help optimize our operations, get access to higher quality data more quickly, and future-proof the business with automation and analytics.”

The completion of the SAP S/4HANA migration is a major milestone for DKSH. Indeed, it is a significant step forward in the company’s digital transformation journey, and it will help DKSH to better serve its customers and partners in the years to come.

Pioneering Cognitus and Panaya’s brand new partnership is their mutual client, Sumitomo Bakelite North America (SBHPP), a leading provider of high-performance plastics solutions with a global footprint spanning the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Africa.

SAP Gold Partner Cognitus has allied with another SAP-certified partner Panaya in a bid to capture the burgeoning SAP S/4HANA market. Capitalising on the two global IT companies’ expertise, the strategic partnership intends to help organisations worldwide accelerate their digital transformation projects with SAP S/4HANA.

Announcing the alliance with Panaya, Pat Sathi, Managing Partner at Cognitus, stated:

“Panaya’s testing capabilities and upgrade Impact Analysis are welcome additions to our current toolset. This will allow us to expedite the SAP S/4HANA transformation and offer value to our SAP customers. Panaya’s long history of providing cloud-based AI-enhanced delivery makes them a strong partner and we’re looking forward to working with them, as we continue to create innovation in the SAP S/4HANA transformation space together”.

Capturing the Growing SAP S/4HANA Market

In an SAP S/4HANA expert study conducted in 2021 by valantic, a global provider of software and digital process solutions, it was revealed that many companies are still keen on migrating to SAP S/4HANA. In addition to the modernisation of the SAP applications and the technical infrastructure as key reasons for SAP S/4HANA migration, 63{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} of those surveyed shared that early SAP S/4HANA transformation offers organisations the chance to future-proof processes to help them achieve better performance, enhance efficiency, and drive user-friendliness.

The increasing demand for SAP S/4HANA has also been consistently reflected in the German software giant’s financials. In 2021, SAP ended the fiscal year with a 46{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} SAP S/4HANA cloud revenue to €1.09 billion and a 47{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} increase at constant currencies, which exceeded its €1 billion cloud revenue target. SAP is forecasting a continuous momentum throughout 2022 based on SAP S/4HANA Cloud’s strong traction.

Accelerating SAP S/4HANA Transformation with Cognitus and Panaya

Cognitus and Panaya’s collaborative partnership comes at an opportune time as the extended 2027 deadline of the legacy SAP ERP’s end of support draws closer. Harnessing each company’s SAP expertise, Cognitus and Panaya offers a compelling proposition for a more efficient SAP S/4HANA migration projects.

Dallas-headquartered Cognitus is one of the world’s most advanced SAP S/4 HANA transformation and SAP packaged solutions provider with over 1,000 highly skilled SAP professionals across 14 global delivery centers including in India and Malaysia. Similarly, Panaya, which also has a global footprint spanning the US, France, Germany, Israel, and Japan, also offers unparalleled SAP experience to customers as a leading provider for SaaS-based Change Intelligence for SAP. According to Shabi Levi, Head of Channels and Alliance at Panaya, the two IT firms make perfect partners.

”The moment we met the team at Cognitus, we knew it was exactly the type of company we would want to partner with. Our Change Intelligence platform fits Cognitus’ SAP S/4HANA implementation methodology, in its Gallop Deployment package, like a glove. With the impressive presence, Cognitus has established in both the Americas and EMEA, we are looking forward to close collaboration in winning projects, such as Sumitomo Bakelite, across the globe,” Levi detailed.

Cognitus and Panaya were selected to be the modernisation partners of Sumitomo Bakelite to support its SAP ECC environment migration to SAP S/4HANA leveraging Panaya’s S/4 Convert and Intelligent Code Remediation solutions. The partnership offers SBHPP a seamless SAP S/4HANA migration by integrating Panaya’s Change Intelligence Platform and AI-enhanced cloud platform, Test Dynamix with Cognitus’ Gallop package and SAP expertise.

SAP partners Datavard and Delaware Singapore’s strategic alliance is geared towards supporting Singaporean enterprises’ digital transformation projects including SAP S/4HANA migration.

Delaware, a global IT and management consultancy and a leading SAP partner in Singapore, continues to deepen its SAP S/4HANA capabilities with its recent partnership with SAP data management and data transformation expert Datavard. The two SAP partners will be collaborating on projects that would help bolster business transformation and SAP S/4HANA migration of Delaware Singapore’s customers.

Christophe Derdeyn, partner at Delaware Singapore said:

“This partnership with Datavard will support Delaware during the transformations of the digital core of customers in Singapore. With Datavard’s specialist experience around data transformations and data management, this partnership should greatly benefit the digital transformation journeys of companies in Singapore. Delaware has always committed to providing the best solutions to the market, and we are very excited about this partnership and the possibilities it offers.”

SAP Partners Enabling Customers’ SAP S/4HANA Migration

Both Datavard and Delaware bring into the partnership their SAP experience, expertise, tools, and solutions that enable customers to seamlessly embark on an SAP S/4HANA journey.

Delaware is a leading SAP S/4HANA implementation partner that has been consistently recognised in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for SAP S/4HANA Application Services, Worldwide. According to Delaware, Gartner’s recognition reflects the company’s investment in SAP S/4HANA application services resources, tools, and industry knowledge. In Singapore, Delaware is the only SAP partner with competence in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud deployments.

Meanwhile, SAP Silver Partner Datavard adds to the alliance its expertise on migration, data warehousing, big data landscape design, cloud migration or system harmonization for SAP S/4HANA and SAP BW/4HANA. Under the partnership with Delaware, the Heidelberg-headquartered firm will be providing tools such as the Datavard Transformation Suite (DTS) to enable a secure and efficient SAP S/4HANA migration for Singaporean customers. DTS, an Abap-based, standardised, efficient solution, supports SAP migrations of all types and approaches.

Derdeyn said earlier in a Technology Magazine, Singapore article:

“By using the tools that Datavard provides, we can ensure that instead of having a downtime of several days for the migration – which our customer simply cannot afford – they won’t experience downtime of more than 10 hours.”

Rising with SAP

As SAP partners, both Delaware and Datavard have confirmed their support on SAP’s Business Transformation-as-a -Service cloud offering RISE with SAP.

Delaware International, the international structure that binds all Delaware practices across the world, was one of the first SAP partners that have committed support to SAP’s subscription-based offering.

“Running cloud solutions from SAP in its own core operations, Delaware is thrilled to advise its customers for cloud adoption as it enables innovation while moving forward steadily. Delaware strongly believes that RISE with SAP will become the reference for customers evolving into intelligent enterprises,” said Eric Hiernaux, Managing Director at Delaware International, in an SAP article.

As an SAP Gold Partner, Delaware’s proven expertise and experience in SAP technology back customers’ business transformation journey. The consulting firm offers FAST-2-S/4 solution, an SAP-qualified solution that allows companies to technically migrate to SAP S/4HANA with minimal throughput time and overhead. In addition, Delaware also offers S/4HANA accelerators, which are tools and techniques developed in-house to streamline and shorten customer’s migration process.

Similarly, Datavard has also expressed its support to RISE with SAP during a live fireside chat on “RISE with SAP and S/4HANA Accelerated with Selective Data Transformation” held earlier this month. The panelists, including Datavard APJ’s Managing Director Ulf Spies, shared insights on how selective data transformation (SDT) can help customers transform data with maximum flexibility in relation to RISE with SAP.

Spies said that SDT strikes a balance between different approaches, helps move historic data selectively with minimum business disruption, and merges multiple systems in one environment. He added that SDT complements partners with much more diverse offerings to their standard brownfield or greenfield offerings.

Emphasising the complementary role of SDT with RISE with SAP, Chern-Chuen Khor, COO for SAP Southeast Asia and the event moderator explained:

Retaining critical data and process configuration and innovating through a new RISE with SAP implementation in the cloud do not have to be mutually exclusive. That’s where SDT comes into play, allowing companies to strike a balance between flexibility and risk, to not throw the baby out with the bathwater.“

Japanese companies have begun the process of SAP S/4HANA migration to unlock the true business potential of an intelligent enterprise in today’s digital economy.

SAP S/4HANA is the German tech giant’s fourth-generation enterprise resource planning (ERP) system based on the SAP HANA database. It is SAP’s solution to the increasingly complex digital business environment — with intelligent features, a simplified data model, and the new SAP HANA in-memory database that enables real-time data analytics.

As the deadline for SAP S/4HANA migration approaches, more and more businesses in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region are looking into migration options and strategies. Amid a challenging and highly competitive market, the adoption of SAP S/4HANA calls for a major shift in how an organisation consumes services and develops applications, as well as how technology is translated into performance and service delivery.

In a blog post, Sven Denecken, Senior Vice President and Head of Product Management and Co-Innovation for SAP S/4HANA at SAP, said that SAP S/4HANA customers have a chance to achieve faster execution, standardisation, simplification, and a higher level of business process integration by following the SAP Activate methodology.

“By choosing to activate both our solution and methodology, customers have repeatedly demonstrated how they went above and beyond former best practice,” Denecken stated.

Embarking on a Digital Transformation Journey with SAP S/4HANA Migration

Several organisations in Japan have already embarked on their transformation journeys — transitioning from highly-customised software solutions to move towards cloud-based IT workloads and the implementation of SAP S/4HANA with best practices content.

Trusco Nakayama Corporation is a leading supplier of machine tools, distribution equipment, and environmental safety equipment, as well as a manufacturer of machine tools. Atsushi Kazumi, CIO at Trusco Nakayama Corporation, said that the company’s migration to SAP S/4HANA marks the beginning of its digital transformation journey. He stated:

“Using SAP S/4HANA, we have enriched the customer experience by improving convenience. With Intelligent ERP, we now have a platform for ongoing business innovation, dramatically accelerating our business transformation.”

Trusco manages 2.3 million products, keeps its inventory stocked with 390,000 pieces, and has achieved a 90{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} inventory hit rate using SAP S/4HANA’s inventory and supply chain management solutions. Furthermore, the company has extended S/4HANA with custom applications leveraging the SAP Business Technology Platform to achieve new levels of customer experience throughout the supply chain. Trusco Nakayama Corporation positions itself for further innovation using intelligent technologies with its business transformation centered on Intelligent ERP.

“And thanks to SAP Business Technology Platform turning businesswide data into business value, we’re boosting on time deliveries and offering new levels of convenience for our customers,” Kazumi further said.

Utilising the Capabilities of SAP Solutions

By moving to SAP S/4HANA, Toyota Motor Corporation is following a global trend among automotive companies that are modernising their businesses in today’s intelligent enterprise era. There was a business need within the group to regulate its accounting system up to international standards, such as the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

In 2018, Toyota Systems Corporation President and Representative Director Hiroaki Kitazawa, who was then the company’s Executive General Manager of the Information Systems Group, said that they turned to SAP to help build the infrastructure of Toyota’s new company-wide accounting information system. Since the implementation of SAP S/4HANA, Toyota has improved visibility and speed of financial management reporting and analytics by simplifying business processes, technology management, and efficient data acquisition.

Meanwhile, general trading company Mitsui and Co., Ltd., one of the largest sogo shosha in Japan, is driving a move to cloud-based solutions within the organisation as part of its strategy towards digital transformation. The company has migrated all 40 countries to SAP S/4HANA in a cloud environment after having worked with its old legacy ERP software since 2000.

Mitsui’s journey to becoming an intelligent enterprise began with the adoption of SAP S/4HANA as its backbone for managing backend processes around the globe. To minimise the manual matching load in accounts receivable, the company is now fully leveraging SAP S/4HANA’s simplified data model, in-memory analytics, and machine learning capabilities.

Moreover, Mitsui has automated up to 90{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} of payment matching and invoice processes for high-frequency company codes, reducing the amount of time it takes to match one payment to several invoices.
