Panasonic Corporation and Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. have recently been announced as new RISE with SAP customers, joining the increasing SAP cloud client base in Japan. In order to improve the efficiency of their respective business processes, both companies have chosen the German IT giant’s Business Transformation as a Service (BTaaS) signature cloud offering.
Since its introduction, the BTaaS product RISE with SAP has assisted organisations from a wide range of industries around the world, spanning from sports to automobile and energy power providers, to name a few. As part of its capabilities to harness the power of cloud enterprise resource planning (ERP), the comprehensive offering also includes analytics, business process intelligence (BPI), and SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP) functionalities, which enable customers to become sustainable, intelligent enterprises and attain meaningful business results.
Former SAP APJ President Scott Russell, who is now Head of Customer Success and Member of the Executive Board at SAP SE, previously predicted that Asia would be the leader in RISE with SAP adoption as companies in the region, such as those based in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, India, and Vietnam, strengthen their business transformation strategies. In addition to attracting companies with smaller IT footprints or budgets, the solution’s design — which includes a single package of bundled products under one contract — continues to draw in organisations with mission-critical core systems that need to transition from their current on-premises legacy infrastructure.
This month, Osaka-headquartered multinational conglomerate company Panasonic Corporation and Kyoto-based global designer, manufacturer, and supplier of advanced electronic materials Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. have teamed up with SAP to further expedite their respective business process transformation journeys. SAP’s next-generation ERP system, SAP S/4HANA Cloud, will be the focus of both of the new cloud customer projects involving the implementation of RISE with SAP. New RISE with SAP Customers in Japan: Panasonic and Murata
Aiming to expedite the digital transformation (DX) of its entire value chain centered on global manufacturing and sales, Panasonic has selected RISE with SAP after initiating a strategic agreement with the German tech giant in support of its intelligent, sustainable enterprise vision. Furthermore, the project aims to transform Panasonic’s business models and processes, as well as employee experience strategies, all of which are directly connected to the growth of the group’s overall business.
Thrilled to be able to accelerate the company-wide digital transformation in partnership with SAP, Yuki Kusumi, President and Representative Director, Group CEO of Panasonic, shared in a statement:
“Panasonic will continue to increase the value provided to customers by promoting PX and DX for customer service. SAP is a management and business operation platform centered on the latest cloud-based ERP to realise PX’s strategy and vision, and is a very important solution for realising our strategy.”
Commenting on the new customer win, SAP Chief Executive Officer and Member of the Executive Board Christian Klein remarked:
“RISE with SAP helps our customers transform their business and move to the cloud. To accelerate Panasonic’s global transformation and lay the foundation for sustainable, industry-leading competitiveness. I am pleased to have been selected as a partner.”
Meanwhile, another Japanese enterprise Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. also embarked on an intelligent enterprise journey leveraging the BTaaS solution from SAP. In 2018, the company selected SAP S/4HANA as the foundation for its worldwide accounting and finance system, replacing its previous system. It was first implemented in Murata’s operations in Japan, and then spread across the globe, including Europe, the Americas, and Asia, and is now being utilised by 18 multinational organisations.
Murata Manufacturing saw the urgent need to shift its systems to the cloud in order to respond to the ever-evolving business environment and keep up with its rapid expansion by implementing the newest digital technologies and innovations in the market. In November last year, the company determined that it will transition to the RISE with SAP cloud service, which is centered on SAP S/4HANA Cloud. By integrating RISE with SAP, Murata was able to make use of the most up-to-date technological capabilities offered by the German enterprise software giant.
