The recent SAP S/4HANA implementation by Tata Technologies at Mitsubishi Electric India Pvt. Ltd. marks a significant stride in the company’s digital transformation journey. This successful deployment has substantially improved operational efficiency, highlighting the strategic partnership between the two industry leaders.

Mitsubishi Electric India, recognizing the need to modernize and integrate its diverse business operations, enlisted Tata Technologies to implement SAP S/4HANA. Known for its expertise in the manufacturing domain, Tata Technologies embarked on a comprehensive reengineering of Mitsubishi Electric’s business processes. The implementation of SAP S/4HANA replaced the existing SAP ECC system, resulting in a 15% enhancement in operational efficiency. This upgrade also included integrating business functions across various units, incorporating digital signatures, and configuring document management system servers, all within a stringent timeline.

Furthermore, the decision to migrate to SAP S/4HANA was driven by the need for a unified, cloud-based solution capable of supporting Mitsubishi Electric’s expansive operations. SAP S/4HANA’s advanced capabilities, such as real-time data processing and analytics, have also provided Mitsubishi Electric with a single source of truth, enabling better decision-making and enhanced agility.

Streamlining Operations with SAP S/4HANA Implementation

Moreover, Tata Technologies leveraged its global presence and diverse team of experts to complete the SAP S/4HANA implementation in just 11 months, reducing the original project timeline by 25%. This rapid deployment was also facilitated by cross-functional teams specializing in business process rationalization and digital accelerators, including pre-configured templates for the manufacturing sector, pre-built authorization matrices, EDI solutions, SAP MES integration connectors, data migration and validation tools, and reusable automation test scripts.

The integration encompassed multiple business units, including Factory Automation Systems, Air Conditioning Systems, and Semiconductors & Devices. This alignment also coincided with the operational commencement of Mitsubishi Electric’s new manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Pune. The successful deployment of SAP S/4HANA has streamlined core processes, enhanced data visibility, and improved operational agility, providing a unified data source for informed decision-making based on real-time information.

Tata Technologies has committed to providing annual maintenance services (AMS) for the next three years to ensure continued operational excellence. This ongoing support will help Mitsubishi Electric India maintain the benefits gained from the SAP S/4HANA implementation and further enhance its digital capabilities.
