By migrating SAP on Google Cloud, Vingroup plans to enhance its IT capabilities and extend its cloud footprint — providing greater agility, scalability, continuity of service and cost savings.

SAP and Google Cloud have played a pivotal role in helping businesses in Southeast Asia (SEA) to embrace cutting-edge technologies and stay ahead of the curve. This has become increasingly important in today’s business environment, where companies must constantly adapt and evolve to survive. SAP’s partnership with Google Cloud is a first step towards making it easier for businesses of all sizes to use cloud-based collaboration without having to give up control over their IT workloads.

As of August this year, Google Cloud SEA Managing Director Ruma Balasubramanian said that Google Cloud has 400 SAP customers in the region. Singapore-based shipper Ocean Network Express (ONE) and Indonesian coffee chain Kopi Kenangan are just some of the customers that are successfully leveraging SAP software on Google Cloud. By doing so, they are able to take advantage of the cost savings, flexibility, and scalability that the cloud has to offer. Additionally, they are able to benefit from the deep integration between SAP and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), which provides them with a best-in-class experience and helps them improve their bottom line.

Another company that will move all of its SAP workloads to Google Cloud’s open cloud environment is Vingroup and its subsidiaries. It is one of the largest private conglomerates in Vietnam with a diverse range of businesses, including retail, hospitality, healthcare, real estate, education, and more. The company has been a pioneer in the Vietnamese economy, and its move to Google Cloud is yet another example of its commitment to innovation and future growth.

Vingroup intends to employ best-in-class technologies to expand its production capacities, increase service and product quality, improve user experiences, and propel its worldwide expansion plan by modernizing and linking its core systems and data on an organization-wide basis. The transformation project will include the company’s manufacturing operations, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, human capital management (HCM), supply chain management (SCM), and finance management.

Le Thi Thu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of Vingroup and Global CEO of VinFast, stated that Vingroup’s goal is to improve people’s lives generally and that the company sees technological advancement as the means to that end. Sharing more of her thoughts regarding the strategic partnership with Google Cloud, she added:

“With Google Cloud’s leading cloud infrastructure and unified data platform, we can analyze and understand customer needs, provide personalized products and services, and create compelling customer experiences. We also believe that this collaboration will bring greater security and efficiency to Vingroups business systems and applications globally.”

Leveraging SAP on Google Cloud

As part of the Business Transformation as a Service (BTaaS) signature cloud offering RISE with SAP, VinFast will operate SAP S/4HANA on Google Cloud in the United States and Germany, which will further expedite the company’s efforts to promote electric vehicles (EVs) globally. In addition, the company expects to:

  • Gather and examine vast amounts of past and present data from its production plants and digital estate for electric vehicle sales and aftercare once it has completed the process of linking its SAP software to the database systems that it has already set in place with Google Cloud.
  • Enable VinFast in obtaining new insights, which will improve decision-making, promote increased automation, which will raise manufacturing output, and explore new strategies, including the application of Google Automotive Services (GAS), to support consumers across the entire vehicle ownership lifecycle.

Moreover, Vingroup companies operating in different markets, such as Vinpearl, VinHMS, Vinhomes, Vinschool, and Vinmec, amongst others, will utilize SAP solutions on GCP to manage their day-to-day company operations. Team members at Vinpearl and VinHMS, which delivers hotel booking and management software services, are now capable of creating hyper-personalized vacation experiences.

The hyper-personalized experiences will include targeted discounted rates on Google Travel, Google Hotel Search, and Google Maps — made possible by integrating and analyzing datasets related to products, customers, and supply chains across cloud-based SAP systems.

“Our collaboration with Vingroup is a great example of the next-generation, enterprise-ready capabilities and unique value that Google Cloud can bring to local enterprises, as they accelerate their digital transformation strategies, elevate Vietnam’s position in the global value chain, and contribute to its dynamic economy,” Balasubramanian remarked.
