In a recent announcement, SAP Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) presented PwC with the prestigious Partner Excellence Award 2024 for its exceptional contributions to driving digital transformation for businesses using SAP solutions.

The award highlights PwC’s outstanding achievements in the fields of RISE with SAP S/4HANA, SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, and Intelligent Spend and Business Network. This recognition underscores the strong partnership between SAP and PwC in helping customers adopt innovation, achieve rapid results, and run their businesses more efficiently with SAP solutions.

SAP and PwC have a long-standing global strategic partnership, collaborating to deliver innovative solutions and services to customers across various industries. As one of SAP’s top Global Strategic Service Partners, PwC has been instrumental in supporting digital transformation projects for customers in the Asia Pacific Japan region, including key markets such as Japan, South Korea, India, Southeast Asia, and Australia/New Zealand. The partnership also leverages PwC’s deep industry expertise and strong technology capabilities to help organizations harness the power of SAP solutions and drive business success.

Pushing Boundaries with SAP Technology

PwC’s success in driving customer adoption of autonomously driven SAP solutions can be attributed to its ability to leverage global connectivity, industry expertise, innovation, and strategic partnerships. Michael Rasch, Partner and Global SAP Alliance Leader at PwC Germany, emphasized that this recognition reflects the team’s capability to push the boundaries of what is possible with SAP technology and deliver the best value to clients. PwC remains committed to providing cutting-edge solutions that empower businesses in the Asia Pacific region and beyond.

Furthermore, the SAP Partner Excellence Awards nominations are based on internal SAP sales data, with a committee of regional and global SAP representatives determining the winners in each category. The awards cover various categories, including overall sales, innovation, technology, services, and solution-specific areas. PwC’s achievement in winning the awards for RISE with SAP S/4HANA, SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud, and Intelligent Spend and Business Network also demonstrates their expertise and success in these critical areas.

Driving Cloud Transformation and Innovation

Utkarsh Maheshwari, Chief Partner Officer at SAP Asia Pacific Japan, highlighted the increasing integration of SAP partners into their business and the crucial role they play in driving cloud transformation and innovation. With the rapid emergence of new technologies like generative AI, cloud transformation has become essential for organizations of all sizes to seize opportunities and accelerate business success. The SAP Partner Excellence Awards not only celebrate partners’ achievements in traditional areas of sales and performance but also recognize their contributions to the phenomenal growth of SAP’s cloud business across solutions and their unique IP in driving customer innovations.

Moreover, PwC’s focus on being a “business integrator” rather than just a “system integrator” sets them apart in the Thai market, according to Jirapol Tangtatswas, Consulting Partner at PwC Thailand. By providing comprehensive support and leveraging the professionalism of their team, PwC assists clients in maximizing their investments through digital transformation across organizations. The firm’s approach involves assessing clients’ needs, developing ERP systems, and identifying new opportunities for digital transformation. PwC’s global network also allows them to bring insights and best practices with high standards to introduce optimal processes to their Thai clients.

Recognition as an Outstanding SAP Asia Pacific Japan Partner

The SAP APJ Partner Excellence Award 2024 presented to PwC is a testament to their outstanding contributions in driving digital transformation for businesses using SAP solutions. Through their strong partnership with SAP and deep industry expertise, PwC has successfully supported customers in adopting innovation, achieving rapid results, and running their businesses more efficiently. As organizations continue to navigate the rapidly evolving technology landscape, partnerships like the one between SAP and PwC will be crucial in helping businesses harness the power of cloud transformation and innovation to achieve long-term success.

Last week, two new SAP leaders were announced for SAP India and SAP United Kingdom and Ireland (UKI). Kulmeet Bawa is appointed as the managing director (MD) for the Indian region, while former Senior Vice President of Digital Business Services for SAP APJ (Asia, Pacific and Japan) Michiel Verhoeven will lead the UKI region.

The appointments of the new SAP leaders follow the enterprise software solution provider’s announcements of key business strategies in supporting customers on their digital transformation journeys, including its partnership with fellow German company Siemens. In this new alliance between the two former rivals, SAP will offer Siemens’ innovative product life cycle suite (Teamcenter software) as the core foundation for product data management, and Siemens will offer SAP software solutions (SAP Intelligent Asset Management solution, SAP Portfolio, and Project Management applications).

Kulmeet Bawa, Leader for SAP India

Effective July 20, 2020, Bawa will lead the SAP Indian subcontinent as its President and MD. Before this appointment, he led the growth strategies and go-to-market executions of Resulticks, a computer software company specializing in omnichannel marketing, marketing automation software and real-time web analytics. He also previously held key positions at Adobe, Microsoft, and Sun Microsystems.

Bawa will also be guiding businesses in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to help them adopt a digital-first mindset and become intelligent enterprises. He will be based in Gurgaon, India, and will report directly to Scott Russell, President of SAP APJ.

Rusell said of the appointment,

“The current pandemic environment requires companies to take swift action and accelerate digital transformation to become intelligent enterprises. At SAP we are committed to support our customers and help them transform, scale and win. We are confident that Kulmeet’s track record of a customer-centric approach, his focus on people and effective team-work, coupled with deep industry knowledge, will propel SAP India to continued success.”

SAP reports that former SAP India MD DebDeep Sengupta will offer guidance and leadership to Bawa to ensure a smooth leadership transition for customers and partners. According to SAP, Sengupta’s next position will be announced in due course.

Michiel Verhoeven for SAP UKI

Dutch national Michiel Verhoeven is appointed as the new MD for SAP UKI. He previously served key positions across the APJ region, leading the P&L and success of SAP’s largest customers in Southeast Asia from 2013 to 2016, the P&L strategies and execution of the Digital Business Services organization at SAP APJ from 2016 to 2020, and was most recently the Chief Business Officer at SAP Singapore.

Verhoeven will be reporting directly to Brian Duffy, president of EMEA north at SAP, and is charged with executing SAP UKI’s growth strategy. He replaces Jens Amail who had been with SAP for 12 years. Chairman of SAP UKI User Group Paul Cooper said,

“We wish Jens well and appreciate the support he has given the UK & Ireland User Group over the last two and half years, invest[ing] significant time and resource into joint trust workshops aimed at building improved relationships between SAP and its customers. We extend a warm welcome to Michiel Verhoeven and look forward to working with him to build on these customer relationship initiatives, at a time when many organizations are facing a great deal of uncertainty.”

SAP Asia Pacific Japan Regional Partner Excellence Awards recognise partners that achieve outstanding overall sales, innovation, technology, and services, including in solution-specific areas.

51 regional awards for partner excellence in a variety of categories were given to top partners of SAP Asia Pacific Japan during the recent SAP Field Kick-Off Meetings. ABeam Consulting, Accenture, Deloitte, and EY were among the companies that have received the prestigious recognition.

Fujitsu, Hitachi Systems, IBM, Born Group and itelligence were also awarded.

Scott Russell, Regional SAP President stated that 2020 marks the start of SAP’s fourth decade in Asia.

“To our partners – we couldn’t have done this without your continued support. Your role in helping our customers become the best-run businesses on the planet is more important than ever before. Our deepest appreciation goes to our FKOM (Field Kick-Off Meetings) Platinum sponsors: ABeam, Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte, Microsoft, and MyWave,” Russell added.

SAP recognises the contribution of their partners essential to the German ERP giant’s success. The work and value SAP and the partners deliver help customers adopt innovation easily, gain results rapidly, grow sustainably and run better with their solutions.

The winning partners selected from SAP’s wide-ranging partner base and the nominations based on SAP’s internal sales data were determined by a steering committee composed of regional and global SAP representatives. The awardees were chosen for each category per region according to numerous criteria including sales achievement and performance.

The Awardees

Doing a ‘three-peat’, Deloitte Southeast Asia Ltd, a member firm of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, received the award under the SAP S/4HANA Cloud category. This year, the consulting firm has purchased Maihiro, a leading provider of SAP-based customer experience (CX) and customer relationship management (CRM) consulting services and an SAP Gold Partner. The acquisition further enhances Accenture’s global SAP capabilities aside from the firm’s recent adoption of SAP Cloud Platform for the latest edition of consumer products platform Newspage 9.

Receiving the partner excellence award for SAP S/4HANA is ABeam Consulting. The Japanese firm provides ABeam Cloud Global Sales & Manufacturing Template and ABeam Cloud Conversion Express Factory for SAP S/4HANA, services that support a smooth conversion to the next-generation business suite SAP S/4HANA at an early stage.

Meanwhile, fellow Japanese companies Fujitsu and Hitachi Systems received the partner awards for Managed Cloud and Marketing Success, respectively.

Other major category winners were EY, BORN Group, and itelligence.

While itelligence, an NTT Data Group subsidiary, topped the Platform and Technology category.

Russell has cited several macro trends signaling a gravity shift to Asia. The ERP giant strives to play a strategic role in being Asia’s digital fabric, supporting its vision to become a leading region of the world. He further concluded:
