Five series of lists and up to 30 subcategories have been created for the SAP Digital Transformation “Dingge Awards” 2022 in China to further demonstrate organisations’ journey to becoming sustainable, intelligent enterprises through innovation.

SAP China established the Dingge Awards to celebrate customers’ progress in business transformation leveraging SAP technologies. The awards aim to recognise firms in mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong that have outperformed their competition, highlighting their digital transformation efforts in recent years. These organisations have built an effective strategy that has enabled them to take the lead in their respective product markets and sectors, while also taking into consideration the onset of the digital economy’s new customer needs, capabilities, key infrastructure, and industry best practices, among other factors. Dr. Huang Chenhong, who officially took on the role of SAP Global Executive Vice President and President of Greater China in August last year, said in a statement:

“In line with the macro trends of digital economy, industrial synergy, and green development, ‘new Chinese enterprises’ are becoming full-data smart enterprises, full-link collaborative enterprises, and full-scale enterprises. SAP will continue to deepen the concept of ‘in China, for China’ and be the enabler of the digital transformation of ‘new Chinese enterprises’ in the cloud era.”

Commenting on the 2022 Dingge Award, he further shared:

“We look forward to discovering ‘new China’ through the ‘Dingge Award’ — the company’s digital transformation pioneer — sharing successful experience, leading the transformation and upgrading of the industry, and jointly promoting high-quality development through innovation.”

Dingge: SAP Digital Transformation Awards for Intelligent Enterprises

This year’s “Dingge Awards” are sponsored by China’s Harvard Business Review and SAP, with academic support provided by the Global Business Research Institute of Tsinghua University, which is highly important in the industry. It has been conducted for five consecutive years now and has attracted over 500 enterprises and more than 1,000 projects to showcase their initiatives. Remarkable customer cases in the past include National Energy Group, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), Mindray Medical, Anhui Heli, Juhua Group, Xiaomi and other companies that have exhibited innovation through SAP solutions.

According to Professor Li Donghong from the Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy, School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University, the SAP digital transformation awards are given to those that successfully create value through digital transformation, sustain innovation, and have a beneficial impact on industrial change. He added:

“I look forward to working with many experts this year to visit and investigate more innovative companies, to learn more about the significance of digital transformation of companies for industrial chain innovation and green and sustainable development, and to further deepen the understanding of research on the digital transformation of Chinese enterprises.”

This year, several new customers signed up for the German enterprise software giant’s cloud services. The Business Transformation as a Service (BTaaS) offering RISE with SAP was particularly popular in Q1 along with other solutions including SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP), SAP S/4HANA, SAP Intelligent Robotic Process Automation (SAP iRPA), SAP Sales Cloud, SAP Commerce Cloud, and SAP Ariba.

However, Liu Xiao, Co-Producer and General Manager of the Chinese Edition of Harvard Business Review, believes that there is still a long way for the business community to realise the value and inevitability of digital transformation and to truly complete digital practice.

“I sincerely hope that this year’s ‘Dingge Award’ will be held successfully, and look forward to more ‘new Chinese enterprises’ to become role models and benchmarks for China’s digital transformation,” Liu Xiao concluded.
