Leveraging an array of SAP software products, Power International Holding (PIH) Group of Companies has accelerated the digitalisation and expansion of its business operations.

Since its establishment in 1983, PIH Group of Companies has grown into being one of Qatar’s largest conglomerates with over 60,000 employees operating globally across a diverse range of interests in six industries. To realise its vision of becoming a “digital-first, data-driven” organisation, the company embarked on a large-scale digital transformation initiative using SAP software products and solutions. These include SAP S/4HANA, SAP SuccessFactors, and SAP Industry Cloud solutions and extensions based on SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).

For Jasim Abdul Rahman, Group Chief Information Officer at PIH, the company’s strategy is geared towards taking a digital-first approach in order to evolve, expand, and grow. He further explained:

“Toward this objective, we wanted a solution that not only encapsulates existing businesses under a single digital framework but also provides the flexibility to equip our foray into newer industries in the future.”

Tapping Larsen & Toubro Infotech (LTI) as its solution framework implementation partner, PIH Group of Companies worked closely with the Mumbai-headquartered global technology consulting firm to take advantage of several IP-based engineering and construction (E&C) solutions such as engineering cashflow and supplier portal, project management cockpit for performance forecasts, and resource deployment tool.

According to the statement released, more than 250 processes were transformed as part of the digital transformation program, covering 63 entities across four business domains.

“LTI’s proven expertise in enabling disruptive digital transformation systems is globally acclaimed and together with SAP, our partnership has enabled PIH’s transformative journey,” Abdul Rahman added.

PIH Collaborates with LTI to Accelerate Digitalisation Utilising SAP Software Products

LTI’s strategic partnership with the German enterprise software giant, which spans more than 20 years, empowers the IT consulting company to participate in the SAP S/4HANA Movement program that helps facilitate the promotion and adoption of SAP S/4HANA. As an SAP customer itself, LTI completed the implementation of SAP S/4HANA on cloud in 2018 aiming to enable the innovation and agility it requires.

Additionally, the two companies’ extensive collaboration allows LTI to work directly with SAP’s industry teams to offer industry-specific solutions to its roster of customers. Reflecting on the digital transformation project with PIH Group of Companies, Sudhir Chaturvedi, President and Executive Board Member at LTI, said:

“The digital acceleration caused by the pandemic has brought the benefits of embracing disruptive technologies to the fore. Digitising the core can enhance process efficiency, customer satisfaction and reduce costs that together help in achieving business excellence. LTI’s rich heritage of experience in the engineering and construction industry and our robust partnership with SAP as a global strategic service partner makes us the ideal partner of PIH for this ambitious engagement.”

Meanwhile, Alaa Jaber, Managing Director for SAP Qatar and Fast Growth Markets, remarked:

“The current times emphasise the importance of agility, flexibility, and scalability for Qatar’s businesses to continue marching towards growth. PIH’s digital transformation with LTI stands out as an ideal testimony to showcase a proactive approach in embracing technology to help large businesses scale up with pace.”

Moreover, the SAP solutions implementation has so far allowed PIH Group of Companies to have a smooth flow of data, allowing for more accurate and fast decision-making across a diverse corporate environment, as well as business frameworks for new acquisitions, mergers, de-mergers, and partnerships. In April, PIH signed several cooperation agreements with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) to strengthen collaboration in the fields of air quality monitoring and establish a reputation management system in the ministry.
