EY GDS (Global Delivery Services), a dynamic global delivery network, works across five countries namely Argentina, China, India, the Philippines and Poland with teams from all EY service lines, geographies and sectors playing vital roles in the delivery of the EY growth strategy.
EY GDS centres in India are soon to ramp up its technology and consultancy services delivery network as EY plans to hire 14,000 advanced analytics experts and other highly skilled professionals. The additional talents will be added to the existing 27,000 members across its eight GDS centres in the country.
Srinivasa Rao, Global Vice-Chair at EY GDS said that the massive 14,000 new talents are expected to join the India team this financial year. He also shared that GDS is acknowledged as the “conduit” for all its outsourcing contracts.
According to Rao, recognising the increased demand for digital transformation and innovation-led services from clients not only in India but globally, the audit and professional services firm is increasing its workforce with emerging skills. He stated:
“We are reaching for higher value talent. The areas we’re looking at are advanced analytics, cybersecurity, automation, and machine learning, and (we are) continuing attention around artificial intelligence.”
Rao specified that Advisory, client technology, and innovation are EY’s key areas of focus across the GDS facilities among other services.
Rajiv Memani, Chairman at EY India, said that the quest for highly skilled professionals in STEM domains is soon to intensify as more and more businesses are gearing towards digital transformation. Memani exclaimed that in that aspect, EY offers a holistic approach to digital transformation that is embedded across all its service offerings.
In addressing the inadequacy of talent for SAP implementation, EY has developed an ‘SAP innovation factory’ within GDS to bridge the talent gap through hiring and training.
Meanwhile, a third Wavespace centre or technology experience centre was opened by EY in Bengaluru after Thiruvananthapuram and Mumbai. The Bengaluru Wavespace will offer customised experiences to help companies explore disruptive growth strategies and technologies, and some of the best use cases.
Each wavespace center is a center of excellence for one or more digital capabilities, such as IoT, AI, user experience, blockchain, data analytics or cybersecurity. EY has 16 wavespace satellites, which focus on one particular competency or emerging technology.
Deloitte and KPMG, two of the Big Four auditors, have also announced its plan to beef up its India team with an additional 40,000 and 8,000-9,000 new hires.
