Wipro Named Leader in SAP Cloud Migration Services NEAT Report

The 2021 NelsonHall Vendor Evaluation & Assessment Tool (NEAT) analyzed the performance of vendors offering SAP cloud migration services namely Atos, Capgemini, Cognizant, DXC Technology, EPAM Systems, Infosys, LTI, Mindtree, Mphasis, NTT DATA, TCS, Tech Mahindra, T-Systems, Wipro, and Yash Technologies.

Wipro Limited (Wipro), an SAP Global Services Partner since 2007, has achieved the Leader rank in the NelsonHall NEAT vendor evaluation for SAP Cloud Migration Services in the Overall, Legacy Migration Capability, and S/4HANA Transformation Capability market segments. In the report, the Indian multinational IT firm was ahead of the other vendors evaluated on both the ‘ability to deliver immediate benefit’ and the ‘ability to meet client future requirements’.

Leveraging several years of SAP S/4HANA services expertise, Wipro has focused on enabling organizations’ digital transformation journey through SAP offerings. It also aims to be a top-two provider in select industries that require SAP services. 

SAP Cloud Migration Services Evaluation

Strategic sourcing managers utilized the NEAT in evaluating the capability of the 15 vendors across a range of criteria and business situations. Upon assessment, the vendors were identified in 1 of 4 categories– Leaders, High Achievers, Innovators, and Major Players– across the Overall, Legacy Migration Capability, and S/4HANA Transformation Capability market segments.

“Wipro is developing strong competitive positioning through a focus on select targeted geographies and industry sectors for its SAP services. This has allowed it to invest in capabilities and build offerings tailored for these high potential markets to demonstrate its in-depth understanding of their particular needs,” shared David McIntire – IT Services Research Director, NelsonHall.

As a long-time partner of SAP, Wipro has delivered SAP services to around 600 clients globally and has about 13,000 SAP-skilled employees, including approximately 9,200 with SAP S/4HANA capabilities. For CY 2019, NelsonHall estimates that Wipro’s SAP cloud migration services revenues account for 25{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} of total SAP revenues ($330m).

Despite the challenges related to skilled workforce and SAP on Google Cloud Platform, the report identified Wipro’s strengths that contributed to its Leader status:

  • Focus on support of diverse migration approaches 
  • Mature SAP and cloud asset portfolio

The NEAT report also shared Wipro’s strategy on growing its SAP cloud migration practice by investing in its capabilities across the following areas:

  • Expanding hyperscaler certifications within the SAP team
  • Investing in and evolving its assets and IP
  • Expanding industrial production transformation capabilities through SAP
  • Building capabilities for coupling application modernization and data center exit
  • Assessing potential targeted inorganic growth

Coming from an extraordinary year that has put a halt on many IT investments and delays on SAP transformation, vendors of SAP cloud migration services are expected to see a better year. In 2021, clients are projected to return focus on SAP ERP cloud migration services to drive cost reduction and accelerate digital transformation. The SAP ERP cloud migration services market is forecasted to grow ~16.6{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} CAAGR to reach $19.4bn by 2025. SAP S/4HANA adoption is also projected to accelerate as the 2027 end of support deadline nears.
