Indian aquaculture leader, The Waterbase Limited, has implemented SAP ECC 6.0 to restructure, automate and integrate its business processes, in a bid to improve its operational efficiencies across all business verticals.

Part of the Karam Chand Thapar group (KCT group), The Waterbase Limited is the leading manufacturer of high quality shrimp feed in India, with manufacturing and processing facilities near Nellore in Andhra Pradesh.

With the business experiencing growth over the last few years, it required a new system to take it to the next level.

“We needed a strong ERP to support our strategic growth plans, the right technology that can help us to cut costs, become more efficient and grow through innovation,” said Ramakanth V. Alula, CEO, The Waterbase Limited.

“SAP will give us real time information for timely decision making and for better business analytics. With this implementation, we will have visibility across the enterprise while seamlessly integrating our business processes, this will result in improved efficiencies and better controls.”

Assisted by PwC, the implementation was completed in six months – despite setbacks caused by flooding in Chennai and Nellore.

Arnab Basu, technology consulting leader, PwC, said, “This is a ‘one of a kind’ implementation in the aquaculture industry, enabling The Waterbase Limited to transform its business operations as well as become scalable and agile. Several business benefits are expected to accrue out of this SAP led transformation. We are thankful for the support extended by Karam Chand Thapar group and The Waterbase Limited Management. The dedication from the project team allowed an on time ‘go live’, defying the Chennai floods.”
