SAP Korea’s innovative training initiative, a corporate cloud-based program, has garnered commendation from the Mayor of Seoul. This unique educational endeavor, executed under the auspices of the Seoul Software Academy (SeSAC) and the Youth Employment Academy, is designed to foster software innovation talent. This recognition signifies the SAP training program’s substantial contribution to nurturing financial application developers.

Employment-Focused SAP Training Program

The SAP training program, spearheaded by SAP Korea’s CEO Eunyoung Shin, stands out for its rigorous and relevant curriculum. It focuses on imparting in-depth knowledge of SAP S/4HANA cloud-based financial processes and program development. What sets this program apart is its blend of theory and practice. It employs a field-tailored curriculum taught by active consultants, ensuring that participants gain hands-on experience with servers and environments used in actual business settings.

Another key aspect of the SAP training program is its emphasis on employment. Participants are not only trained to understand complex software systems but also prepared for roles as financial module operators, developers, and IT consultants. This holistic approach is evident in the program’s impressive outcomes: a 100% completion rate and a 100% employment rate among the participants.

Collaboration with Seoul Economic Promotion Agency

The success of the SAP training program can be attributed to the strategic partnership with the Seoul Economic Promotion Agency. Under the guidance of CEO Eunyoung Shin, this collaboration has been pivotal in aligning the program’s objectives with the industry’s needs. The synergy between SAP Korea and the agency has been instrumental in creating a fertile ground for developing software talent, as evidenced by the high recruitment competition rate of 5.4:1. The program is not just for those with a background in ICT, business, or economics. It inclusively opens doors for non-majors, providing them with a unique opportunity to venture into the world of software development. This inclusive approach is a testament to SAP’s commitment to diversifying the talent pool in the software industry.

Eunyoung Shin’s leadership at SAP Korea has been marked by a decade-long commitment to enhancing domestic software competitiveness. The CEO’s vision has been instrumental in shaping various human resources training programs, culminating in the successful completion of this award-winning course. This initiative reflects SAP Korea’s dedication to supporting young talent in the corporate software sector.

Aligning with National Talent Cultivation Efforts

SAP’s involvement in the government’s efforts to cultivate talents in critical technologies is notable. The company has been an integral part of the Innovative Growth Youth Talent Concentration Training Program, led by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIP) and the Institute of Information & communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP). This program focuses on key technologies like Big Data, blockchain, AI, and more, highlighting SAP’s role in creating high-quality jobs in the software industry, especially for the youth.

The youth talent training initiative under SAP’s guidance goes beyond traditional learning. It encompasses sharing insights about the cloud industry and providing practical software development skills aimed at employment in project-based companies. This approach aligns with SAP’s global strategy, as evidenced by the involvement of Rudolf Held, Vice President and Global Head of Partner Innovation Lab at SAP.

SAP Korea’s training program, under the astute leadership of CEO Eunyoung Shin, has established itself as a beacon of innovation and excellence in the software industry. By aligning with the government’s talent cultivation initiatives and leveraging strategic partnerships, SAP Korea is not only enhancing software competitiveness domestically but also shaping a new generation of industry-ready professionals. This program, with its comprehensive curriculum, employment focus, and inclusive approach, is setting new standards in software education and talent development, paving the way for a more robust and diverse software industry in Seoul and beyond.

SAP Korea recently announced that it is accepting applications for its “Corporate Cloud-based Financial Application Developer Training Course,” which offers software development training to anyone looking for work in the industry.

In recent years, SAP Korea has been working closely with both the private and public sector in order to promote the adoption of cloud technology. One example of this is the partnership with Microsoft and Doosan to develop the “Delightful Digital Workplace”, which integrates solutions such as SAP Sales Cloud, SAP S/4HANA, and SAP SuccessFactors. Doosan’s continuous performance management capability was developed by SAP and Microsoft in a co-innovation initiative to maintain organizational agility, boost employee engagement, and facilitate global teamwork.

In 2020, SAP Korea and Naver Business Platform also signed a strategic business alliance for public cloud collaboration. This was done in order to facilitate the transformation of the South Korean government into what is being referred to as a “intelligent government.” The purpose of the collaboration is to deliver cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and Big Data platform services to the public sector of the country in order to encourage a culture of data-driven innovation.

Additionally, the Korean subsidiary of the German enterprise software giant established the SAP Young Next Cloud Academy — which is a no-cost, hands-on cloud-based education program — in partnership with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s K-Digital Training Program, and the Vocational Competency Review and Assessment Service. Program participants will be taught by active-duty consultants with experience in similar fields how to use Platform as a service (PaaS)-based cloud platforms to create a wide variety of cloud-based applications, as well as how to create a private or on-premise app for a hybrid cloud service by leveraging PaaS cloud.

New Cloud Training Course Launched by SAP Korea

The company is so dedicated to promoting education within the IT sector that it has developed a training program to further cultivate talents in the software field, with a focus on the practical competencies needed in the business sector. The program is run as part of the education brand “SeSAC (Seoul Software Academy)” of the “Youth Employment Academy,” an initiative of the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Industry Promotion Agency to foster software innovation capabilities. (InsideSAP Asia often references articles from websites in other languages to bring you as much information as possible.)

From 2018 to 2022, SAP Korea ran a series of similar programs designed to help nurture the careers of 716 aspiring software developers. Through training, job placement assistance, and ongoing monitoring, the tech giant has successfully increased its education completion rate to 100% and its employment placement rate to 92%.

Commenting on the latest training program’s launch, Eun-Young Shin, President and Chief Executive Officer at SAP Korea Ltd., said in a statement:

“SAP Korea is proud to be able to continuously contribute to the development of software talent and market growth in Korea. We will do our best to nurture talented people who can be put into the future.”

Through a field-tailored curriculum and instructors made up of current consultants, the course equips participants with the knowledge necessary to design and implement SAP S/4HANA cloud-based financial business processes and applications. Upon graduation, students will have access to an employment link program that will help them find work as IT consultants and developers using the same server and practice environment used by real companies.

Trainees are being sought until October 3 from residents of Seoul who are interested in working in the field of software. The training itself will run from October 24 through February 15 of next year. Anyone over the age of 15 who does not have employment insurance in Seoul can apply to enroll in the course. The Youth Employment Academy offers this program at no cost to the participants at its Geumcheon Campus.
