The recent recognition by LinkedIn is a testament to the German enterprise software giant’s commitment to fostering an SAP workplace where diversity, inclusion, and growth are at the forefront of everything it does.

In today’s competitive job market, companies that prioritize the well-being and success of their employees will ultimately emerge as the winners. SAP’s workplace culture is a prime example of how investing in employees can drive business success while creating a positive impact on society as a whole.

SAP’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture goes beyond mere words. The company has implemented various programs and initiatives aimed at promoting equality, encouraging innovation, and empowering employees to achieve their full potential.

One such initiative is the SAP Autism at Work program, which seeks to recruit individuals on the autism spectrum and provide them with training and support to thrive in the workplace. SAP has also launched the One Billion Lives program, which leverages technology to create innovative solutions to social challenges.

In addition, SAP’s dedication to promoting employee well-being is reflected in its extensive health and wellness programs, which include mental health support, stress management resources, and healthy lifestyle initiatives.

SAP Workplace Gets Recognition from LinkedIn

LinkedIn’s recognition of SAP as a top workplace in multiple countries in Asia-Pacific (APAC), including Australia, Japan, Philippines, and Singapore, is proof of the company’s unwavering vision of creating a culture where employees are valued, supported, and empowered to succeed. SAP’s dedication to diversity, inclusion, and professional growth has created a workplace that fosters creativity, innovation, and collaboration.

SAP prioritizes creating a diverse and inclusive workplace that fosters innovation, creativity, and employee satisfaction while reducing attrition. The company has implemented various initiatives to ensure that its employees feel valued and supported, from fair pay and full transparency over salary bands to hiring practices that promote diversity. The Pledge to Flex initiative is one such program that encourages flexible work arrangements in an inclusive environment, enabling everyone to work, grow, and thrive in a way that fits their individual lifestyle and circumstances.

Being recognized as one of LinkedIn’s 2023 Top Companies in Australia, Japan, the Philippines, and Singapore also validates SAP’s commitment to gender parity and educational attainment. SAP leads the market in terms of female representation, with 35% of women in the workforce and 29% in management positions, according to the SAP 2022 Diversity & Inclusion Report released this month. The company’s long-term efforts to create a work culture that ensures equal opportunities for professional growth and advancement have been acknowledged by LinkedIn.

SAP values providing equal treatment to all employees, as demonstrated by the results of internal surveys. A remarkable 91% of employees feel that the workplace and culture ensure equal treatment for all. The company’s support for diversity, equity, and inclusion, coupled with its innovative workplace policies and practices, has made it a top workplace for professionals seeking to advance their careers.

Fostering a Positive Work Environment

LinkedIn’s Top Companies List 2023 recognizes SAP for more than just its commitment to diversity and inclusion. The company’s positive work environment and culture are also highlighted specifically its stability and affinity. SAP’s high employee retention rate is a testament to the company’s dedication to providing a workplace that supports and values its employees.

SAP empowers its employees to take control of their own career growth and development. With access to a vast array of learning tools and resources, employees can expand their skill set and knowledge base. Additionally, SAP’s extensive network provides endless opportunities for career progression. This, in turn, makes SAP an attractive place for individuals seeking to build a fulfilling career over the long term.

It’s no wonder that many employees choose to stay with SAP for many years. SAP’s focus on creating a positive and supportive work environment and providing opportunities for career growth and development ensures that employees feel valued and fulfilled. The company’s emphasis on stability and affinity further reinforces its commitment to fostering a culture where employees can build long-lasting, satisfying careers.

SAP operations in the company’s Japanese subsidiary have started in the newly opened head office in Otemachi, Tokyo.

In recent years, SAP has been providing numerous businesses of varying sizes and in a wide range of industries with the innovative solutions they need to weather the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as prosper and speed up their digital transformations. Even more so than usual, the German enterprise software giant is committed internally to ensuring the wellbeing and health of its employees and to making their lives easier to handle.

Multiple SAP locations in the Asia Pacific region have already adopted the hybrid workplace design dubbed “Pledge to Flex” since the introduction of the fully flexible and trust-based workplace framework in June 2021. These locations include SAP Thailand, SAP Southeast Asia (SAP SEA) in Singapore, SAP Labs India, and SAP Malaysia. In addition to the opening of its new headquarters in Otemachi, Tokyo, SAP Japan also recently announced that it will be embracing the IT giant’s modern workplace concept there as well. (InsideSAP Asia often references articles from websites in other languages to bring you as much information as possible.)

Moreover, the “Pledge to Flex” structure creates a culture of trust among employees worldwide, allowing them to be more adaptable in their work schedules in order to meet the demands of customers and business partners. SAP’s goal is to protect employees’ safety and wellbeing, boost morale, and encourage top performance by giving them the freedom to pick the work arrangement that fits best for them.

Explaining that the “Pledge to Flex” initiative based on the concept of “flex location, flex time, and flex workplace,” Hiroshi Suzuki, President and Chief Executive Officer at SAP Japan, further shared in a statement: (InsideSAP Asia often references articles from websites in other languages to bring you as much information as possible.)

“Our company has been implementing complete remote work since February 2020, but in the future, we will continue to encourage employees to freely enjoy both the benefits of remote work and the benefits of working in the office. We will make it possible to combine them.”

SAP Operations in Japan: An Embodiment of Flexible Workspace

The newly opened office will serve as a campus for the SAP Experience Center and Inspired.Lab, both of which are already located in Otemachi, to speed up innovation and engagement with customers and partner firms. SAP’s Experience Center is where visitors can learn more about SAP’s products and services, while the Lab is where established enterprises can test out new ideas and find ways to reinvent themselves. Ultimately, the new building will serve as a hub for teamwork among employees, clients, and affiliated businesses.

According to SAP Japan Office Project Manager Ryosuke Urita, the company intends to create an office that stimulates the curiosity of workers by evolving according to the needs of users, without fixing the design and layout.

“In terms of supporting well-being, we will provide free drinks and snacks, install exercise equipment so that our employees can exercise their bodies, and prepare a breastfeeding room for our diverse employees. We try to play it in various places,” he added.

To facilitate interaction among workers, a “Workplace Ambassador” has been put in charge. Community management and event preparation are two of its functions, and they both contribute to the larger goal of fostering interaction among the company’s staff, customers, and corporate partners.

Additionally, SAP Japan also unveiled its first-ever original application that allows users to look for coworkers who are currently at work. The program called “SAP FlexConnect” allows users to track down coworkers, compare methods of working, and plot everyone’s whereabouts on a map.

“By making full use of these three facilities, which are within walking distance, we aim not only to maximize the value we provide to our customers, but also to create a new ecosystem,” Urita concluded.

SAP’s Pledge to Flex initiative is the German software multinational’s global implementation of 100% flexibility at workplace to ensure employees are supported and have access to what they need to be productive, creative, and inspired while running the business responsibly and meeting business requirements in today’s new role of work. The global framework gives employees the option to work from home, remotely, or at the office.

Technology enterprise SAP has been enabling many organisations of all sizes across industries to cushion the impact of COVID-19 with intelligent solutions and help them survive, thrive, and accelerate digital transformation. Internally, SAP has committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its people and helping their lives run better together, especially during these uncertain times.

Since the launch of SAP’s completely flexible and trust-based workplace approach in June last year, several offices in Asia Pacific have already embraced Pledge to Flex and the hybrid workplace design including SAP Thailand, SAP Southeast Asia (SAP SEA) in Singapore, and SAP Labs India. Most recently, SAP Malaysia has also announced that the company will be implementing the tech giant’s modern workplace framework.

“At SAP Malaysia, as with elsewhere in the world where SAP is represented, we are constantly thinking of ways to continuously position ourselves as an employer of choice, and this includes an employee-centred human resources (HR) work model focused on flexibility,” stated Hong Kok Cheong, SAP Malaysia Managing Director.

Championing Flexibility at Workplace

As one of the long-standing key players in Malaysia’s IT sector as well as within the APAC region, SAP Malaysia has been at the forefront of modern workplace transformation and has been known to be one of the country’s employers of choice even before COVID-19. Pre-pandemic, the company received the “Best Employee Brand Award” from the Malaysian Institute of Human resources Management, the country’s first professional body promoting the practice of Human Resource Management. This recognition echoes SAP’s commendation as one of Asia’s Best Multinational Workplaces in 2018 by the Great Place to Work (GPTW) Institute.

Today, SAP Malaysia continues accelerating HR innovations anchored on safeguarding the workforce’s wellbeing, health, and safety. Embracing the Pledge to Flex initiative, the tech company’s new MidValley Kuala Lumpur office design covered considerations for a hybrid, flexible workplace to further enhance the employee experience.

Hong explained that SAP is pursuing optimal talent recruitment and retention, leveraging a data-driven approach in its HR strategy. He emphasised that key factors in adopting modern HR practices are listening to employee feedback and valuing trust, flexibility, and inclusivity to enable the company to become resilient amidst the ever-changing business environment.

The Pledge to Flex framework in Malaysia is underpinned by technology support from Qualtrics for appreciating employee feedback and SAP SuccessFactors for improving the employee experience. In addition, cloud platforms are also utilised to drive cost-efficient and delivery of quality services across HR operations. Implementing flexibility at workplace supported by the use of intelligent technology and rolling out of policies foresee a collaborative, focused, and inclusive and diverse Malaysian workforce.

“By investing in digital solutions to transform work environments across the company where people can thrive, we hope to create the blueprint for how agile teams can work seamlessly and efficiently in ways that will result in sustainable growth,” Hong commented.

The human resources function needs to be repositioned into a people power affair where employee experience and human experience management are key factors to a company’s success.”

Flexibility at Workplace

Under the pandemic background, SAP has swiftly adapted to the unprecedented needs of the workforce, from developing new solutions to implementing a new flexible and trust-based framework worldwide.

In June, SAP pledged to a 100{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} flexible and trust-based global framework designed to support employees’ productivity, creativity, and inspiration while running the business responsibly and meeting business requirements. This backs the company’s recent surveys showing that over 80{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} of SAP employees want a mix of working from home or remote with some time in the office. This initiative aims to provide an inclusive environment that gives people the freedom to choose where to work as well as to achieve inspiring office designs tailored for creativity, collaboration, community, and focused work.

“Our Pledge to Flex model is flexible, trust-based, and powered by our intelligent technologies and will revolutionise how we work,” Tuli stated.

Usa Kongthawornwong, HR Business Partner, SAP Indochina, explained that SAP strongly believes in the potential of technology in Thailand and adopting the new work structure means preparing the country’s workforce to ensure business continuity.

“With Pledge to Flex, employees will able to work remotely, in the office, or a combination of both, and have flexible work schedules. Inspirational office design is tailored to creativity, collaboration, community, and focused work, enabling employees to find the right space for every task. Sustainability and health are prioritised for all office buildings,” Usa stressed.

“The award is yet another milestone on our journey of putting people first,” Usa added. “As we introduce Pledge to Flex, we want to create a more flexible and inclusive work environment grounded in a trust-based workplace that encourages employees to be the best of themselves and provides a safe place for them.”

Leveraging Technology to Enhance the Employee Experience
