Last week, two new SAP leaders were announced for SAP India and SAP United Kingdom and Ireland (UKI). Kulmeet Bawa is appointed as the managing director (MD) for the Indian region, while former Senior Vice President of Digital Business Services for SAP APJ (Asia, Pacific and Japan) Michiel Verhoeven will lead the UKI region.

The appointments of the new SAP leaders follow the enterprise software solution provider’s announcements of key business strategies in supporting customers on their digital transformation journeys, including its partnership with fellow German company Siemens. In this new alliance between the two former rivals, SAP will offer Siemens’ innovative product life cycle suite (Teamcenter software) as the core foundation for product data management, and Siemens will offer SAP software solutions (SAP Intelligent Asset Management solution, SAP Portfolio, and Project Management applications).

Kulmeet Bawa, Leader for SAP India

Effective July 20, 2020, Bawa will lead the SAP Indian subcontinent as its President and MD. Before this appointment, he led the growth strategies and go-to-market executions of Resulticks, a computer software company specializing in omnichannel marketing, marketing automation software and real-time web analytics. He also previously held key positions at Adobe, Microsoft, and Sun Microsystems.

Bawa will also be guiding businesses in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to help them adopt a digital-first mindset and become intelligent enterprises. He will be based in Gurgaon, India, and will report directly to Scott Russell, President of SAP APJ.

Rusell said of the appointment,

“The current pandemic environment requires companies to take swift action and accelerate digital transformation to become intelligent enterprises. At SAP we are committed to support our customers and help them transform, scale and win. We are confident that Kulmeet’s track record of a customer-centric approach, his focus on people and effective team-work, coupled with deep industry knowledge, will propel SAP India to continued success.”

SAP reports that former SAP India MD DebDeep Sengupta will offer guidance and leadership to Bawa to ensure a smooth leadership transition for customers and partners. According to SAP, Sengupta’s next position will be announced in due course.

Michiel Verhoeven for SAP UKI

Dutch national Michiel Verhoeven is appointed as the new MD for SAP UKI. He previously served key positions across the APJ region, leading the P&L and success of SAP’s largest customers in Southeast Asia from 2013 to 2016, the P&L strategies and execution of the Digital Business Services organization at SAP APJ from 2016 to 2020, and was most recently the Chief Business Officer at SAP Singapore.

Verhoeven will be reporting directly to Brian Duffy, president of EMEA north at SAP, and is charged with executing SAP UKI’s growth strategy. He replaces Jens Amail who had been with SAP for 12 years. Chairman of SAP UKI User Group Paul Cooper said,

“We wish Jens well and appreciate the support he has given the UK & Ireland User Group over the last two and half years, invest[ing] significant time and resource into joint trust workshops aimed at building improved relationships between SAP and its customers. We extend a warm welcome to Michiel Verhoeven and look forward to working with him to build on these customer relationship initiatives, at a time when many organizations are facing a great deal of uncertainty.”
