By migrating to an SAP cloud ERP solution with the assistance of SAP Partner HCL Technologies, aircraft technical solutions and support services provider SR Technics will be able to modernize its operations and lower its IT operating expenditures.

For almost twenty years, HCL Technologies has been SAP’s worldwide strategic partner. The Noida, India-based IT company engages with the German conglomerate on innovative technologies like SAP Leonardo, Blockchain, and SAP S4/HANA as a SAP service and license resale partner. HCL Technologies plans to assist businesses across several sectors in becoming intelligent enterprises with the support of its team of consultants throughout the Americas, Africa, Europe, Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), and Asia-Pacific (APAC).

HCL Technologies initially showed its support for RISE with SAP, the Business Transformation as a Service (BTaaS) cloud service from German IT giant SAP, in March 2021. The company’s transformation and consulting services for SAP Factory+ solutions that enable SAP S/4HANA migrations, in addition to its modernized integration and data architectural services, are intended to improve the customer journey.

Furthermore, SAP and HCl Technologies have expanded their alliance to include the RISE with SAP solution, which will help customers scale and secure their cloud infrastructure as they grow. Strengthening their collaboration, the two organizations hope to enable customers in their digital transformation efforts by providing them with world-class products, services, and support.

Earlier this year, HCL Technologies also revealed that it had been recognized as a Leader in the Worldwide Supply Chain SAP Ecosystems Services 2021 Vendor Assessment published by IDC MarketScape. This position acknowledges the Indian company’s proficiency with SAP technologies, which it has used to aid other businesses in speeding up their own supply chain management (SCM) transformations, boosting productivity, enriching their customers’ experiences, and providing greater global visibility into inventory and financial impacts.

This month, HCL Technologies made public their signing of a multi-year deal with SR Technics, a renowned maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) service provider in the civil aviation market, to digitally transform SR Technics’ core business processes. The global technology company will deploy RISE with SAP in an entirely new SAP S/4HANA system running in the Microsoft Azure cloud. SR Technics will be able to streamline its operations, update its application stack, and reduce its IT running expenses by making the transition to an SAP cloud ERP solution.

Pleased to know that SR Technics has selected SAP S/4HANA as its platform for future business expansion, Stefan Krauss, Senior Vice President (SVP) and General Manager of Discrete Industries and Energy & Natural Resources at SAP, stated:

“This is further demonstration of the unique value proposition of RISE with SAP in helping organizations transition core business processes to the cloud. Together with HCLTech, we have a best-in-class MRO offering for organizations needing to maintain complex, expensive and regulated assets.”

Rising with SAP Cloud ERP

SR Technics, which has its headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, as well as offices in Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East, offers extensive, fully customized solutions for aircraft engines, airframes, and components, as well as technical assistance, to more than 500 clients all over the world. Additionally, the company works with a wide-ranging network of partners and business development offices in the said regions.

According to the press release, SR Technics will install iMRO, which is an add-on for SAP that is designed specifically for the maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) business. This move is intended to enhance the company’s existing SAP cloud ERP solution deployment as well as its future business operations.

Specifically, iMRO is an intelligent and highly distinctive software solution for maintenance that seeks to improve both the overall visibility and the operational performance of a business. More than 50 clients all around the world are presently making use of iMRO, and SR Technics’ deployment — as per HCL Technologies’ statement — is the first on SAP S/4HANA to make use of RISE with SAP.

Explaining the SAP implementation project, Patrick Kuster, Senior Vice President (SVP) of IT and Executive Sponsor of the ReSeT Digital Transformation Program at SR Technics, shared that SR Technics’ ‘ReSeT’ initiative is built on the technological pillars of the company’s migration to SAP S/4HANA and adoption of iMRO, with the goals of simplifying business processes and improving service to clients. He further added:

“The combined SAP and HCLTech offering was the only solution that fully met our unique business requirements. It provides a future-proof technology foundation to optimize and grow our engines operations. HCLTech’s industry knowledge and SAP transformation expertise combined with its global and local delivery capabilities really stood out when it came to selecting our technology partner.”

Meanwhile, Pankaj Tagra, Corporate Vice President of Europe and Africa, at HCL Technologies, said that the integration of SAP is going to be the rocket fuel for SR Technics’ business transformation. He concluded:

“This contract highlights HCLTech’s strong partnership with SAP and our innovative product engineering capabilities. SR Technics works with many of the world’s major airlines and aerospace manufacturers, making this a significant engagement as we further grow our business in the DACH region and across the aviation sector globally.”

SAP.iO Foundry Singapore and SAP Partner HCL Technologies introduced a new immersive startup program centered on the Intelligent Enterprise.

SAP recognizes that firms’ long-term success relies on their agility in the face of today’s complex market conditions. In order to stay competitive in a disruptive and fast-changing business environment, organizations need to reinvent their operations to develop highly automated business processes. This involves using cutting-edge technologies, such as those provided by SAP, to convert inflexible, siloed practices into dynamic, data-driven processes.

As the German tech giant’s strategic business unit, SAP.iO aims to accelerate and scale startup innovation, and foster employee initiatives to create new collaborations and solutions for the company. Innovators from across the globe as well as every functional area of business are convened at SAP.iO to establish a new paradigm for the intelligent enterprise. With SAP.iO’s support, more than 450 independent startups and internal projects have seen rapid development since 2017, and numerous SAP clients have gained access to innovation as a result.

Last year, SAP.iO Foundry Singapore and SAP SuccessFactors formed an accelerator program focused on HR technologies and innovative workplace solutions. Six software startups from all over the world were chosen to participate in a digital 13-week course by a panel of SAP specialists and SAP partners. Meanwhile, six business-to-business (B2B) firms were also part of SAP.iO Foundry Singapore’s Fall 2020 program cohort, backing SAP clients’ investments in SAP Concur solutions for travel and expense management.

Once again this year, SAP.iO Foundry Singapore has introduced a startup program in collaboration with SAP Partner HCL Technologies. Five international startups have been chosen by a panel of SAP and HCL Technologies experts to participate in a virtual startup program centered on the Intelligent Enterprise strategy. In the domains of Industry 4.0, the metaverse, and sustainability, the startups are developing ground-breaking solutions for organizations from a wide range of industries.

SAP Asia Pacific and Japan President Paul Marriott said that many of the world’s most progressive nations are located in Asia. He added that the region is a hub for startup innovation due to the presence of a large and rising young talent pool as well as the major investments SAP is witnessing pouring into the region.

Commenting on the recently announced partnership between SAP.iO Foundry Singapore and HCL Technologies, the SAP APJ President remarked:

“Through this collaboration with HCLTech, we are bringing together the right technology, support, and insight to further accelerate startup innovation and introduce game-changing solutions – especially in the areas most essential in building future-readiness – to more of our customers, more quickly.”

Partnering with HCL to Expedite the Intelligent Enterprise Vision

HCL Technologies has been SAP’s worldwide strategic partner for almost two decades. Together with HCL Technologies’ SAP Ecosystem Unit and eSTiPTM, its flagship open innovation platform and initiative, SAP.iO Foundry Singapore’s 13-week program provides companies with customized mentorship from SAP and HCLTech professionals. It also provides access to SAP’s APIs and technologies, as well as the opportunity to work with SAP and HCL Technologies’ global clientele.

The program now includes the following startups:

  • Route optimization, electronic proof of delivery, quick alerts, and real-time work progress tracking are just some of the ways in which Versafleet automates 21st-century supply chains.

Kalyan Kumar, Chief Technology Officer and Head of Ecosystems at HCL Technologies, shared in a statement:

The German enterprise software giant that provides solutions to help organizations efficiently manage their operations has recently released the SAP Q2 2022 results, showing an increase in cloud revenue, particularly in the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region.

SAP has been executing on its strategy of embracing the cloud, and this has led to a massive increase in demand for their cloud infrastructure solutions. This is fueled by both new business and the adoption of their solutions by existing customers who are looking to lower costs, reduce complexity, and speed up time-to-market.

In APJ, the company had a very successful quarter with their cloud revenue growth of 31% over the same quarter in 2021. This is primarily due to strong results seen in the Japanese and Indian markets. SAP’s total revenue grew by 8% over the same period in 2021, moving up to 1.112 billion Euros, demonstrating success on a global scale.

Christian Klein, CEO and Executive Board Member at SAP SE, said that the results of SAP for the second quarter show that the company’s product portfolio is more significant than it has ever been. He added that the move to the cloud that SAP is in the process of making is ahead of schedule and has surpassed topline projections. Klein also noted that cloud sales has become the tech giant’s biggest source of revenue.

“Our pipeline is strong, and we are winning market share underpinned by the very strong 100% growth of S/4HANA current cloud backlog,” the SAP CEO emphasized.

Over the course of the second quarter, leading Asian organizations have been adopting SAP cloud technologies at a faster pace across all industries, with continued demand for the company’s Business Transformation as a Service (BTaaS) offering RISE with SAP among various customers. The RISE with SAP program offers an integrated suite of products and services that are designed to help customers benefit from the flexibility of cloud computing, by combining a set of SAP cloud products and services.

The core component of the signature cloud offering is SAP S/4HANA Cloud Edition, which enables clients’ cloud environments to operate in either an SAP data center, or with any traditional hyperscale provider that they prefer. This offers customers the flexibility they need to make a business decision on the next best move for their company’s transformation and its future growth.

New APJ Customers Revealed in SAP Q2 Results Announcement

Paul Marriott, the President of SAP APJ, stated that the company is experiencing a growing demand for the RISE with SAP service from a diverse range of industries. He added that there was a noticeable trend this quarter among travel and manufacturing businesses that are trying to future-proof their operations and achieve business value through real-time data and operational efficiencies.

According to Marriott, there are no indications that the momentum will change in the near future. He pointed out the fact that SAP is witnessing both new and existing clients innovating, expanding, and positioning themselves for future success.

ST Logistics Pte Ltd., Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd., Sumitomo Rubber Industries Ltd., Bridgestone Australia, Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, and Malaysia Airlines are some of the new clients in APJ that have signed up for the BTaaS offering during the second quarter of 2022. In addition, HCL Technologies, a renowned global tech provider as well as an SAP Global Strategic Service Partner, also went live with RISE with SAP during Q2.

Moreover, it can be noted that HCL Technologies initially announced its support for RISE with SAP last year. In addition to the innovative integration and data architecture services it already provides, the company wants to improve the overall customer experience by providing transformation and consulting services for SAP Factory+ capabilities that make it easier to migrate to SAP S/4HANA.

“In an uncertain world, one thing we can be sure of is that being future-ready means putting technology at the heart of your business and focusing on digital transformation; bringing transparency across the supply chain; strengthening business networks; and incorporating sustainability throughout your operation, because there is either sustainable business – or there is no business,” Marriott further shared in the press release.

Tech giants HCL and SAP continue to expand their long-standing alliance in a bid to help customers benefit from the SAP partner ecosystem and further drive business transformation today.

In a recent virtual event titled CTO Conversations held by SAP, Juergen Mueller, Chief Technology Officer and Member of the Executive Board at SAP, and Kalyan Kumar, Corporate CTO and Head of Ecosystems at HCL Technologies, explored the two companies’ partnership and discussed how they work together to accelerate digital transformation for businesses amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Mueller believes SAP’s extensive partner ecosystem is key to customer success. He added that SAP partners play an important role in meeting companies’ needs for flexibility and simplicity as they take on huge transformation programs and begin to scale their IT.

For nearly two decades now, HCL Technologies has served as SAP’s strategic partner on a global scale. Based in Noida, India, the IT firm is an SAP service and license resell partner that collaborates with the German multinational on cutting-edge technologies such as SAP Leonardo, Blockchain, and SAP S4/HANA. With a team of consultants in the Americas, Africa, Europe, Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, HCL Technologies intends to help organisations across a wide range of industries in their journey to becoming intelligent enterprises.

During the online discussion, Kumar talked about the company’s commitment to transforming joint customers, partners, and businesses today. He shared:

“If you look at HCL, we’ve got a very multifaceted relationship with SAP, and that’s why it’s called an ecosystem partner. It’s not strategic. It’s beyond that. It’s about creating a 360-degree ecosystem within ourselves and within the marketplace.”

This month, HCL Technologies also announced that it has been named a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Supply Chain SAP Ecosystems Services 2021 Vendor Assessment. The recognition reflects the Indian firm’s capabilities in utilising SAP technologies to empower organisations in accelerating supply chain management (SCM) transformation, improving productivity, enhancing the customer experience, and increasing the global visibility of inventory and financial impacts.

Driving Business Transformation with HCL and SAP

In March 2021, HCL Technologies first expressed its support for RISE with SAP, the German tech giant’s Business Transformation as a Service (BTaaS) cloud offering. Aside from its modern integration and data architecture services, the company aims to enhance the customer journey through transformation and consulting services for SAP Factory+ offerings that facilitate S/4HANA migrations.

“I’m a big believer and I’ve been one of the wildest proponents of RISE with SAP. I strongly believe SAP should control the destiny of where the cloud goes from their perspective,” Kumar emphasised during CTO Conversations.

Leveraging the RISE with SAP offering, HCL and SAP’s alliance takes a step further in exploring go-to-market strategies to assist customers in advancing their cloud capabilities while maintaining scale and security. With an expanded partnership, the two companies aim to provide clients with best-in-class solutions, services, and experiences as they embark on their digital transformation journeys.

“We bet big time on the ecosystem as SAP. So that is just a few aspects of how we help customers and companies get toward the digital age much faster, in a much more controlled way, and in a transformation as a service,” Mueller said.

“I’m grateful to meet partners like HCL Technologies who we’ve been working together with for more than 2 decades. It is this close collaboration that makes the difference when supporting our customers with their transition to the cloud,” Mueller wrote in a LinkedIn post.

The SAP partner ecosystem is at the core of the latest milestone offering, RISE with SAP, to simplify each customer’s business transformation journey.

HCL Technologies (HCL), a next-generation global technology company headquartered in Noida, India, joined the roster of organisations that have embraced SAP’s newest concierge service to the Intelligent Enterprise. Offered as a Business Transformation as a Service package, RISE with SAP will enable HCL Technologies’ customers to accelerate their journey to becoming an intelligent enterprise by leveraging both HCL’s digital and application capabilities and their existing SAP investments.

Kalyan Kumar, Corporate Chief Technology Officer & Head – Ecosystems, HCL Technologies, explained the multinational company’s outlook and market opportunity with RISE with SAP. He said:

“This offering affords us the opportunity to demonstrate HCL’s vast array of offerings and experience in the SAP space. We are uniquely positioned to provide a true 360-degree service to SAP clients moving into the cloud. Working together, we can help ensure existing on-premises investments are not lost as organizations transition to RISE with SAP and accelerate their move to the cloud.”

HCL’s recent IDC recognition reflects the company’s capabilities in empowering organisations to accelerate cloud adoption and digital transformation. As a truly global company with a robust delivery model, functionality, and innovation, HCL achieved a Leader rank in the IDC MarketScape: Canadian Cloud Professional Services 2021 Vendor Assessment in January.

Embracing RISE with SAP

RISE with SAP is a customer-first, partner-centric service offering that leverages SAP S/4HANA Cloud, an ERP system with built-in intelligent technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and advanced analytics. With more organisations investing in SAP S/4HANA as reported in the Americas’ SAP Users’ Group (ASUG) and the German-Speaking User Group (DSAG) surveys, the solution is forecasted to grow further over the next three years.

Anticipating the contribution of RISE with SAP as an addition to the HCL portfolio, Anand Birje, Senior Corporate Vice President and Global Head Digital & Analytics at HCL Technologies said:

“Organisations leveraging RISE with SAP can quickly realise the value and agility of a digital core and business platform architecture in the cloud. HCL enhances this journey with its transformation and consulting services for SAP Factory+ offerings that facilitate rapid migrations to SAP S/4HANA, in addition to its modern integration and data architecture services.”

HCL has been a global strategic partner to SAP for over 18 years, co-innovating in the areas of SAP Leonardo, Blockchain, and SAP S4/HANA. With RISE with SAP, the alliance goes a step further exploring go-to-market initiatives that would help customers advance their cloud capabilities while ensuring scalability and security. Together, HCL and SAP will be able to deliver best-in-class solutions, services, and experiences to customers as they go through their digital transformation journey.

“The RISE with SAP offering helps simplify and accelerate our customers’ move to the cloud and will help deliver continuous innovation throughout their journey to become an intelligent enterprise,” Dr. Uwe Grigoleit, Senior Vice President and General Manager, SAP S/4HANA, SAP highlighted.

“Together with our strong ecosystem, we will help customers chart a course for their business transformation,” he added.

HCL continues to expand its market footprint with its recent official entry into Vietnam in December 2020, which means more organisations from the region to experience the RISE with SAP offering. Aside from the significant job opportunities, HCL’s operation in Vietnam is anticipated to bring advanced technology solutions to its global client base across several industries and verticals, including banking and financial services, healthcare, infrastructure, engineering, and cybersecurity.
