Qualtrics, the leading experience management and survey platform acquired by SAP in 2019, reveals new poll results that show students’ readiness for their first job.

ThePrint reported that a new poll organised by SAP and Qualtrics through its survey platform indicated that most people all over the world feel that local schools are not equipped nor prepared to help students be job-ready. Additionally, results reveal that only two regions had respondents that rated their schools as ‘good’ or ‘excellent.’

The Qualtrics survey platform asked the question, ‘how would you rate local schools when it comes to preparing students to get jobs today?’

The majority of the poll participants responded with a rating that says the local schools are underperforming. Overall, only East Asia and the Pacific and South Asia respondents voted with a positive rating.

Outside of the regions of the Americas and South Asia, the majority of the respondents believe that access to good education is still a privilege instead of something that the majority of the population of the countries can enjoy.

Delivering quality education is the fourth key part of the Sustainable Development Goals adopted all of the United Nations Member States in the year 2015 for its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The results show that there is still work that needs to be done, especially with the impact that came with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The survey also asked questions that gauged global cooperation and rendered positive results.

Across all regions, the respondents noted that it is ‘important’ or ‘very important’ for nations to work harmoniously towards a common goal.

South Asia and the Sub-Saharan Africa regions were mostly in favour. Western Europe turned out to be the least in favour. Although, globally, more than one-third of the respondents think that it is crucial.

In addition to this, the Qualtrics survey also gathered results indicating that people think it is a good idea and beneficial to do so. The majority of the respondents from every region responded with ‘mostly good’ with only 12{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} voting with ‘mostly bad.’

The results revealed that nations need to work together to meet common goals and deliver better and more positive results.

Ten thousand five hundred respondents from 30 countries all over the world participated in the survey, which represents three-fourths of the global population.

The recent poll was not the first time SAP and Qualtrics assisted in organising global surveys. In 2019, Qualtrics organised a survey and gathered opinions at the 2019 India Economic Summit to gauge the Indian population’s response to technology. The poll also comprised of more than 10,000 respondents from 29 countries.

SAP has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with five polytechnics and SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) to launch the SAP Skills University Singapore in a move designed to provide both new graduates and mid-career professionals with the skills critical to succeeding in today’s digital economy.

Witnessed by Ong Ye Kung, Singapore’s minister for education, the MoU includes the following five polytechnics: Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic, and Temasek Polytechnic, all of which will work closely with SAP to develop and deliver the training programs.

The university’s curriculum, which will be designed in accordance with specific industry demand, will train Singaporeans to take on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) related roles and to build up a skilled workforce to transition into these roles when they become available. The curriculum will be developed to meet the manpower and skills needs of the broader ICT industry including SAP as well as its partners and customers. The collaboration will also provide career advisory and placement services for ICT jobs, with funding support by SSG.

Over the next three years, more than 1,000 Singaporeans are expected to benefit from the collaboration, which will equip them with critical skills in Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, and the Internet of Things. According to the Ministry of Communications and Information, more than 42,000 workers specialising in data science, AI and robotic engineering will be required by 2020.

“As technological disruptions are occurring at an unprecedented pace, SSG actively seeks out collaborations with industry partners to enable Singaporeans to keep pace with the evolving skills needs in areas such as data science, robotics and AI, in order to support industry transformation,” said Ng Cher Pong, chief executive, SkillsFuture Singapore.

“Equipping the workforce with the right skillsets is critical for any organisation or economy to be future-ready and keep up with today’s rapidly evolving world of digital disruption,” said Khor Chern Chuen, managing director, SAP Singapore.

“With the SAP Skills University Singapore, we aim to facilitate education in the fields of advanced technology and complement the foundation that’s being taught in academic institutions with hands-on learning through SAP products and working experiences. This is a crucial measure in closing the gap between the demand and supply for qualified Information and Communications Technology professionals,” he said.

NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) has signed a Statement of Intent (SOI) with SAP to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in India, including an agreement by SAP to adopt 100 Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATLs) to expose students to advanced technology topics relevant to digital transformation and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The agreement will be in effect for five years, starting this year, in an effort to nurture science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning in secondary school students across India.

“India’s growth for the next few decades will depend on the innovations coming out of these tinkering labs,” said Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog, adding, “Tomorrow’s ideas come from students, who will disrupt industries and creative sectors with new technologies and processes which will thrust India into the leadership position for technological creativity and innovation.”

Emphasising the importance of such collaborations, Kant said, “This is possible only through effective public-private partnership and we are delighted to have SAP partner with us on AIM to nurture the future talent of our country.”

“Such partnerships are a win-win situation for AIM and its partners,” agreed Ramanathan Ramanan, mission director, AIM. “This partnership shall help support and boost innovations from the ATLs. The support to Atal Incubators will catalyse adoption of the innovations to commercial scales, ensuring deployment of the innovations to the domestic and international markets quickly and efficiently,” he said.

SAP employees will volunteer to coach and mentor students in advanced technology topics such as design thinking methodology, introduction to programming languages, and experiential science learning, while the SAP Labs India design lab will enable students to gain valuable hands-on experience.

The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) is the Government of India’s flagship initiative to promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the country through the creation of ATLs and training of teachers and mentors. In the past year, more than 50,000 students have been engaged in ATLs. AIM plans to establish more than 30,000 ATLs throughout India during the next three years.

Gamification solution provider GamEffective has joined the SAP PartnerEdge program, and made available GamEffective for SAP SuccessFactors Learning, a microlearning gamification platform.

The platform will provide customers with the ability to engage with their learners on a daily basis, using gamification and feedback to drive high levels of engagement.

“We see great importance in becoming an SAP partner,” said Gal Rimon, founder and CEO, GamEffective. “Many learning and development organisations understand that the future of learning is evolving from course completion to continuous learning, with on-demand knowledge available to learners as they need it.

“Leaders in learning and development see great importance in driving learning and measuring knowledge growth, through a model of daily engagement with micro learning. They also would like to direct learning to learners, based on what learners actually do and on their real-time on-the-job performance.

“Gamification platforms enable just that, and content can be created for them. But they also need to connect to the organisation’s underlying learning management system, or LMS, to ‘feed’ its content to users, and to both push and pull information into the LMS. The gamification platform serves as a ‘system of engagement’ on top of the LMS, which serves as a ‘system of record’.”

The platform can tap into real-time performance metrics, assessing who needs learning reinforcement, spaced learning or repetition and when, and can then offer this learning automatically.

GamEffective for SAP SuccessFactors Learning is now available on the SAP App Center.

SAP India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to launch Bharat ERP, a program designed to help almost 30,000 MSMEs and youth focus on innovation and business profitability on their road to digital transformation over the next three years.

The Bharat ERP program will include a train the trainer component, in which SAP will provide the software and training curriculum to trainers identified by the ministry.  SAP will facilitate training and enablement courses on SAP Business One at the existing network of ministry-controlled technology centres. After successful course completion, SAP and the Ministry of MSME will provide a combined certification, which is expected to help increase the employability of graduates as well as to assist in upcoming recruitment efforts.

“The MSME sector contributes nearly 38 per cent to the country’s GDP and generates nearly 120 million jobs; its growth plays a pivotal role in propelling India’s economy forward,” said Deb Deep Sengupta, president and managing director, SAP Indian Subcontinent. “Our objective through Bharat ERP is to make digital technologies more accessible to micro and small enterprises, in line with our aim to help businesses of all sizes grow with SAP.”

Citing a report recently commissioned by SAP, Luis Murguia, senior vice president and general manager, SAP Business One said that on a global level, small and medium enterprises that have embraced digital technologies have experienced faster growth than those that have not.

“As India prepares for a more robust trade environment, MSMEs will need a digital platform and the skill sets to help them gain scale, be more competitive and leverage new technological tools to compete in the digital economy,” he said. The intent of the Bharat ERP program is to enable just that.
