SAP announced during the virtually-held SAP Global Partner Summit 2020 several significant enhancements, new programs and initiatives to reinstate the multinational company’s commitment to SAP Partners’ success. One of these noteworthy initiatives is the brand new premium SAP certification conducted by the SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) for SAP partner apps to become an SAP Endorsed App.

The SAP Endorsed App initiative is an invite-only program that consists of three specified tests:

  • integration certification tests
  • cloud quality check
  • static security code scan

SAP ICC analyzes the application code and makes tailored recommendations to further enhance and optimize the partner solution. Solutions that achieve the SAP Endorsed App certification gain a competitive edge that denotes a value-added functionality, a smooth integration, and a secure investment for SAP customers.

Currently, there are nine SAP Endorsed Apps available on the SAP App Center. These applications focus on providing innovative business solutions for improving customer and employee experience—factors that are increasingly becoming more relevant in today’s uncertain economic climate. With business operations disrupted, social norms and customer behavior rapidly changing, organizations need to fast-track their digital transformation to better meet demands and stay relevant.

This first part of our SAP Endorsed Apps feature series discusses the solutions made for customer experience management.

SAP has reported a 40 per cent increase in deal involving multiple SAP Hybris cloud solutions in the first half of 2017, compared to the same time last year.

The vendor is attributing this strong growth to more pressure on businesses to meet consumers’ expectations for convenient and personalised experiences, leading to increased investment in front office technologies, as well as enhancements across the Hybris portfolio of sales, service, commerce, marketing and revenue.

Among the customers embracing Hybris solutions this year are Arsenal Football Club, whose transformation of its online retail site brought an 86 per cent increase in mobile transactions and a 42 per cent increase in sales as a whole.

Infonavit, the largest mortgage lender in Latin America, has used SAP HANA, predictive analytics, SAP Hybris Service Cloud and the Hybris Billing solution, to provide a true omnichannel customer experience, while multinational energy and services company Centrica extended its SAP solution footprint to include SAP Hybris Billing, SAP Ariba solutions and SAP Digital Boardroom.

“We have the most complete portfolio for the front office today,” said Carsten Thoma, president and cofounder of SAP Hybris. “We offer an unparalleled range of capability areas and enhancements to our solutions through better unification and integration across the SAP suite – to harvest big data and provide contextual customer experience, but also to capitalise on new business models such as those driven by the subscription economy.”

SAP has released its latest industry-specific accelerator for SAP Hybris Commerce, this time targeting the travel industry.

The solution aims to equip the industry to deal with drastic changes in the way consumers research and purchase travel.

“Today’s travellers increasingly use digital channels to research, buy, use and share travel experiences. They expect a seamless experience throughout their travel journey and across all touchpoint – offline and online,” said Brian Walker, chief strategy officer, SAP Hybris.

“Today’s travel companies need a solution that powers that, and SAP Hybris accelerators provide the industry-specific data model and core functionality needed for customers to deploy their travel industry projects, and – as in the case of the new commerce solution for travel – retail-like travel merchandising capabilities that meet contemporary travel business demands and help them grow their business,” Walker said.

The solution helps travel providers use real-time information to offer personalised customer experiences and to reinforce customer loyalty, by integrating digital and physical customer touchpoints into one platform.

Hoteliers, airlines, cruise and rail operators, car rental services and tour operators are all potential customers for the solution.

For example, airlines can integrate external content from partners like hotels, car rentals, insurance, ground transportation, events and activities with a single view of customer bookings, create packaged offers and bundled products by customer segment and through different channels such as mobile apps, kiosks and airport sales desks, and integrate existing back-office and revenue accounting.

Industry-specific accelerators for SAP Hybris Commerce are already available for telecommunications, financial services and media.

Global consultancy BORN was named SAP Hybris Partner of the Year for the Indian subcontinent, at the recent SAP Annual Partner Summit in New Delhi.

The event was attended by partners from India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

BORN brings together innovative design and e-commerce enablement in what it calls a “creative commerce” offering for retailers and enterprises on B2B, B2C, B2B2C and B2E solutions.

“This prestigious award validates our strategy to synthesise many specialisms (creative design, content production, commerce, conversion optimisation and cognitive insights) to produce award-winning digital experiences,” said BORN CEO Dilip Keshu.

Operating in the US, Europe and Asia, BORN’s list of current and past clients reads like a ‘who’s who’ of retail, including Sony, Salvatore Ferragamo, Fossil, DKNY, Argos, TAG Heuer, Asda (Wal-Mart), Net-a-Porter, Uniqlo, Kenneth Cole, Harrods, Sainsbury’s and DVF.

“It is always a special honour to be recognised by SAP,” said BORN’s APAC managing director, Prakash Gurumoorthy. “We were pioneers with Hybris since the early days when it was an emerging e-commerce leader. It is now the world’s leading platform. After so many successful clients, we at BORN are delighted to be recognised in this manner.”

SAP Hybris will begin operating a new data centre in Sydney from the end of Q3 2016 – the first in the APJ region for the customer engagement and commerce solution provider.

It will be the first data centre added to SAP Hybris’ network since 2013, when its Frankfurt location went live. SAP Hybris also has another data centre located in Boston.

The new Sydney data centre, to be housed in a data centre facility, will host SAP Hybris Commerce, Cloud Edition, and SAP Hybris-as-a-Service (YaaS).

A statement by a SAP Hybris spokesperson said, “the new facility addresses the requirements of many Australian public and private sector organisations that are eager to transition to the cloud, but have concerns about hosting data offshore”.

“The investment is also part of SAP’s global strategy to provide full security and regional data compliance to all its customers,” the spokesperson said.

SAP Hybris said it will release more information on the data centre closer to its launch in Q3.

SAP Australia opened a data centre in Sydney in 2014 to provide customers with local access to SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud, and last year, a data centre in Canberra to support Federal Government agencies.
