In a bid to achieve sustainable growth amidst the changing market requirements, Japanese specialty pharmaceutical and biotechnology company Kyowa Kirin Co. Ltd. has implemented SAP SuccessFactors HRIS to strengthen its human resource processes and IT infrastructure.

With offices across four regions including Japan, Asia-Pacific, North America, and EMEA, Kyowa Kirin Co. Ltd.’s mission is to develop and distribute innovative medicines that have the potential to change patients’ lives for the better. To this end, the company — which has a history that dates back more than 70 years — applies cutting-edge scientific methods, such as its expertise in antibody research and engineering, to respond to the needs of patients and communities in a variety of therapeutic fields.

Just last month, the drugmaker made public its intention to build a new active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturing building at its Takasaki facility. The proposed building will be designated as the HB7 Building and will be in charge of producing biopharmaceuticals. In addition, Kyowa Kirin Co. Ltd. also aims to continually promote exceptional employees by giving proper training to plant workers and operators based on individual skill levels utilizing actual manufacturing equipment. Further automation of the production process will be encouraged as part of the digital transformation initiatives.

In the past few years, the conditions surrounding the pharmaceutical industry have changed significantly as a result of the stiffening of policies and regulations designed to lower medical costs, as well as the development of patient-based healthcare systems. With this, Kyowa Kirin Co. Ltd. came to the conclusion that it would be beneficial to implement the human resource information system (HRIS) developed by SAP SuccessFactors. The company’s goals were to achieve sustainable global growth despite the diversification of medical needs, as well as to bolster human resources and tech infrastructure, and encourage the development of an organization that is capable of adapting to any changes. (InsideSAP Asia often references articles from websites in other languages to bring you as much information as possible.)

Transforming Operations with SAP SuccessFactors HRIS

With the help of SAP Partner Accenture and its myConcerto solution, Kyowa Kirin Co. Ltd. intends to work through the establishment of overall project plans and global user training. Accenture myConcerto is an insight-driven, digitally connected platform that generates meaningful business outcomes by orchestrating the power of the latest SAP technologies, as well as the industry and functional experience of Accenture.

In the future, Kyowa Kirin Co. Ltd. will also promote the integration of global HR data, including Japan, into its SAP SuccessFactors system. By analyzing and utilizing the collected information, the company intends to create an organization committed to accelerating innovation.

Since 2020, the global COVID-19 pandemic has raised the responsibility of HR professionals in guiding enterprises of all sizes during these challenging times. HR is given the fundamental role of ensuring that employees are adapting well to remote working, that all business functions are working together smoothly, and that the organization remains compliant with proposed regulations while securing business continuity as today’s business landscape constantly evolves.

Moreover, a number of companies in Asia have already leveraged SAP SuccessFactors products and solutions to keep their operations up and running and expand their HR strategies. In addition to features for recruitment, training, and workforce management, the Human Experience Management (HXM) suite from SAP SuccessFactors integrates feedback with data from operational processes in order to gain a deeper understanding of people and improve further employee experiences.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the global economy and world trade like never before, exposing supply chain vulnerabilities that left many companies grappling with solutions to help them accelerate supply chain transformation. SAP’s logistics and supply chain management solutions have been front and center of many organisations’ business strategies during the pandemic and in developing their supply chain road map.

SAP partners help ensure a successful implementation of mission-critical SAP applications, especially during these unprecedented times. Wipro, an SAP Global Services Partner since 2007 and one of the respected innovators in SAP supply chain management solutions, was recently recognised as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Supply Chain SAP Ecosystems Services 2021 Vendor Assessment report.

A leading global information technology, consulting, and business process services company, Wipro emerged as a Leader in both quantitative and qualitative assessment of the characteristics and capabilities– the research’s two primary categories– that affect a vendor’s success in delivering supply chain management transformation for manufacturers and retailers. The Capabilities score measures vendor product, go-to-market, and business execution in the short term. The Strategy score measures the alignment of vendor strategies with customer requirements in a 3-5-year timeframe.

Simon Ellis, Program Vice President at IDC, said:

“Wipro’s business consulting capability focuses on building a unique roadmap for each customer’s enterprise digital journey, adding significant value. With processes that are underpinned by design-led transformation and focused on delivering business outcomes, Wipro is an ideal digital transformation partner.”

Innovating with SAP Supply Chain Management Software

Wipro’s SAP portfolio offers end-to-end consulting, implementation, and application management for building an Intelligent Enterprise. Leveraging SAP’s supply chain management software, the company further developed a range of preconfigured solutions for supply chain processes, such as production planning, inventory management, sales & operations planning, and extended warehouse management to improve efficiency and resiliency.

In this particular report, IDC specifically analysed the 11 vendors’ offerings within the SAP supply chain management suite. Based on the IDC MarketScape model, below are the identified strengths of Wipro:

  • Consulting and process-mining capabilities, analytics, and business outcome-based approach
  • Innovative services with technology capabilities built on machine learning (ML), blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, big data, and analytics in a supply-chain context
  • Rapid deployment solutions and SAP supply chain–focused industry accelerators used across three key themes: applied intelligence, connected enterprises, and trusted networks
  • Skilled and certified resources
  • A dedicated supply chain practice and co-innovation relationship with SAP

“The pandemic exposed the vulnerabilities in global supply chains and many organizations have had to make quick transformation decisions, to manage risk and ensure seamless business continuity. Wipro understands these challenges, and remains committed to help enterprises modernize their supply chains and make their operations more resilient,” said Harish Dwarkanhalli, President, Applications & Data, iDEAS, Wipro Limited,” said Harish Dwarkanhalli, President, Applications & Data, iDEAS, Wipro Limited.

Aside from this IDC recognition, Wipro has also recently achieved the Leader rank in the NelsonHall NEAT vendor evaluation for SAP Cloud Migration Services in the Overall, Legacy Migration Capability, and S/4HANA Transformation Capability market segments.

Today, more than ever, line-of-business users responsible for managing working capital need actionable insights in real-time. At the same time, IT/data teams want to accelerate projects, as well as modernize and integrate their data architectures and analytics, while managing risks and costs.

However, current data architectures that exist in organizations today do not meet these customer requirements. A Forrester report showed that between 60 percent and 73 percent of all data within an enterprise goes unused for analytics. Fifty-two percent of SAP users as surveyed by SAPinsider – the largest SAP membership group worldwide – said that a top analytics pain point is data integration. And an Accenture survey revealed that only 32 percent of executives say they can create value from data!

If this is your situation, Qlik is here to help. To unlock the hidden insights in SAP data, Qlik is leading the industry in accelerating use of SAP data for actionable insights and decision making. We just launched the Qlik Order-to-Cash solution accelerators for SAP, the first in a series of SAP-focused data and analytics solution accelerators that speed the ROI of integrating SAP data with modern analytics projects.

Order-to-cash is a critical business process. It includes activities from booking and fulfilling an order to getting paid. Order fulfilment and billing affect customer experience and loyalty. Receivables management and payments affect working capital and cash. Given the times, what could be more important than taking care of your customers and taking care of cash so you can run your business smoothly?

However, order-to-cash also happens to be one of the more complex of business processes to optimize. It is highly fragmented across teams, as there are stakeholders in sales order management, in supply chain logistics and warehousing, and in finance billing, accounts receivables management, and financial accounting. In addition, the data is also fragmented across multiple systems. This is where Qlik’s data integration and data analytics platform shines.

The solution accelerators come with prebuilt components for SAP sales orders and accounts receivables data replication, data warehouse automation to a cloud platform of your choice (Azure Synapse, Microsoft SQL Server, Google BigQuery, Snowflake DW, AWS RedShift, etc.), as well as order-to-cash modern analytics.

The prebuilt data integration and transformation into order-to-cash analytics-ready data and KPIs can save months and thousands of hours of data effort. And, the prebuilt analytics components empower users of all levels of data skills with actionable insights via rich, interactive order-to-cash KPI dashboards, intelligent alerting and AI-enabled conversational analytics. Users don’t have to wait till next day for updates on sales bookings, billings, fulfilment or payments. If shipments are delayed, they can be notified in real-time and proactively contact fulfilment or the customer. If payments are predicted to be delayed, they can act fast and thus reduce days sales outstanding and optimize working capital.

With tremendous amount of order-to-cash and working capital performance management functionality already built-in, these accelerators can speed your SAP data modernization, enable more agility, and quickly deliver a business solution for order-to-cash analytics users.

To find out how your business can benefit from real-time modern analytics, join us for “How to Turn SAP Data into Critical Business Insights” on 20th May 2021.

SAP Asia Pacific Japan Regional Partner Excellence Awards recognise partners that achieve outstanding overall sales, innovation, technology, and services, including in solution-specific areas.

51 regional awards for partner excellence in a variety of categories were given to top partners of SAP Asia Pacific Japan during the recent SAP Field Kick-Off Meetings. ABeam Consulting, Accenture, Deloitte, and EY were among the companies that have received the prestigious recognition.

Fujitsu, Hitachi Systems, IBM, Born Group and itelligence were also awarded.

Scott Russell, Regional SAP President stated that 2020 marks the start of SAP’s fourth decade in Asia.

“To our partners – we couldn’t have done this without your continued support. Your role in helping our customers become the best-run businesses on the planet is more important than ever before. Our deepest appreciation goes to our FKOM (Field Kick-Off Meetings) Platinum sponsors: ABeam, Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte, Microsoft, and MyWave,” Russell added.

SAP recognises the contribution of their partners essential to the German ERP giant’s success. The work and value SAP and the partners deliver help customers adopt innovation easily, gain results rapidly, grow sustainably and run better with their solutions.

The winning partners selected from SAP’s wide-ranging partner base and the nominations based on SAP’s internal sales data were determined by a steering committee composed of regional and global SAP representatives. The awardees were chosen for each category per region according to numerous criteria including sales achievement and performance.

The Awardees

Doing a ‘three-peat’, Deloitte Southeast Asia Ltd, a member firm of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, received the award under the SAP S/4HANA Cloud category. Operating in Brunei, Cambodia, Guam, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, Deloitte Southeast Asia Ltd is comprised of 330 partners and over 8,000 professionals in 25 office locations. Meanwhile, the partner excellence award for SAP Ariba Solutions, which was previously received by Deloitte, went to IBM.

Accenture, a global professional services firm, has received dual awards for SAP S/4HANA Innovation and ISV Solutions. In 2019, the consulting company had received two APJ Partner Excellence awards for SAP Leonardo and S/4HANA Digital Transformation. Accenture ASEAN comprises Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand. This year, the consulting firm has purchased Maihiro, a leading provider of SAP-based customer experience (CX) and customer relationship management (CRM) consulting services and an SAP Gold Partner. The acquisition further enhances Accenture’s global SAP capabilities aside from the firm’s recent adoption of SAP Cloud Platform for the latest edition of consumer products platform Newspage 9.

Receiving the partner excellence award for SAP S/4HANA is ABeam Consulting. The Japanese firm provides ABeam Cloud Global Sales & Manufacturing Template and ABeam Cloud Conversion Express Factory for SAP S/4HANA, services that support a smooth conversion to the next-generation business suite SAP S/4HANA at an early stage.

Meanwhile, fellow Japanese companies Fujitsu and Hitachi Systems received the partner awards for Managed Cloud and Marketing Success, respectively.

Other major category winners were EY, BORN Group, and itelligence.

EY, one of the Big Four firms, was awarded the SAP APJ Award for Partner Excellence 2020 for Intelligent Platforms. BORN Group, a US-based digital brand agency recently acquired by Indian IT consulting and services firm Tech Mahindra, was given the SAP Customer Experience award. While itelligence, an NTT Data Group subsidiary, topped the Platform and Technology category.

Russell has cited several macro trends signaling a gravity shift to Asia. The ERP giant strives to play a strategic role in being Asia’s digital fabric, supporting its vision to become a leading region of the world. He further concluded:

“Asia’s story is about growth, partnering closely with our customers, partners, and employees to better serve the societies we do business in. It’s about having a big dream and delivering it with rigor, perseverance, grit and a never-give-up attitude.”
