A pilot project created to improve the quality of care for geriatric patients in Singapore will kick off in the first half of 2016 through a partnership between SAP, Sierra Solutions and ACE Seniors, with eCareApp on SAP HANA at the centre of the Networked Care pilot.

The eCareApp, which will be available in the SAP Store, is built by Sierra Solutions and runs on SAP’s HANA Cloud Platform for iPhones. The app is designed to connect patients, caregivers and families with advocacy, expert opinions and healthcare programs to improve access to best practices in self-care and caregiving.

ACE Seniors is a Singapore-based social enterprise and interest group offering a holistic approach to successful ageing, a growing issue in healthcare with the number of Asians aged 65 or older increasing to 565 million by 2030 from 300 million today.

“Because Singapore is ageing, there will be more people suffering from maladies like dementia and Alzheimer’s, and more caregivers struggling to care for their loved ones. Innovations like Networked Care can empower family members to better care for patients affordably and efficiently,” said Andy David, director, healthcare, Asia Pacific region, SAP.

“As a Singaporean company, we’re especially excited to pilot the Networked Care app in the city state first,” said Ranjan Vaswani, CEO, Sierra Solutions.

“Our partnership with SAP, through the SAP OEM Partner Program, has been integral in achieving these objectives and our decision to use the HANA Cloud platform, provides us with an easy to deploy and flexible platform, with enterprise grade capabilities. Moving forward, we look forward to working with our partners to extend availability of the app to additional countries across Asia including India, Thailand and Japan,” he said.
