Wipro Limited (Wipro) along with 10 other IT services firms namely Capgemini Services SAS, HCL Technologies Limited, IBM, Genpact Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services Limited, Ernst & Young Global Limited, Accenture plc, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, Infosys Limited, DXC Technology Co. were assessed in the 2021 IDC MarketScape report covering worldwide supply chain SAP ecosystems.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the global economy and world trade like never before, exposing supply chain vulnerabilities that left many companies grappling with solutions to help them accelerate supply chain transformation. SAP’s logistics and supply chain management solutions have been front and center of many organisations’ business strategies during the pandemic and in developing their supply chain road map.

SAP partners help ensure a successful implementation of mission-critical SAP applications, especially during these unprecedented times. Wipro, an SAP Global Services Partner since 2007 and one of the respected innovators in SAP supply chain management solutions, was recently recognised as a Leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Supply Chain SAP Ecosystems Services 2021 Vendor Assessment report.

A leading global information technology, consulting, and business process services company, Wipro emerged as a Leader in both quantitative and qualitative assessment of the characteristics and capabilities– the research’s two primary categories– that affect a vendor’s success in delivering supply chain management transformation for manufacturers and retailers. The Capabilities score measures vendor product, go-to-market, and business execution in the short term. The Strategy score measures the alignment of vendor strategies with customer requirements in a 3-5-year timeframe.

Simon Ellis, Program Vice President at IDC, said:

“Wipro’s business consulting capability focuses on building a unique roadmap for each customer’s enterprise digital journey, adding significant value. With processes that are underpinned by design-led transformation and focused on delivering business outcomes, Wipro is an ideal digital transformation partner.”

Innovating with SAP Supply Chain Management Software

Wipro’s SAP portfolio offers end-to-end consulting, implementation, and application management for building an Intelligent Enterprise. Leveraging SAP’s supply chain management software, the company further developed a range of preconfigured solutions for supply chain processes, such as production planning, inventory management, sales & operations planning, and extended warehouse management to improve efficiency and resiliency.

In this particular report, IDC specifically analysed the 11 vendors’ offerings within the SAP supply chain management suite. Based on the IDC MarketScape model, below are the identified strengths of Wipro:

  • Consulting and process-mining capabilities, analytics, and business outcome-based approach
  • Innovative services with technology capabilities built on machine learning (ML), blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, big data, and analytics in a supply-chain context
  • Rapid deployment solutions and SAP supply chain–focused industry accelerators used across three key themes: applied intelligence, connected enterprises, and trusted networks
  • Skilled and certified resources
  • A dedicated supply chain practice and co-innovation relationship with SAP

“The pandemic exposed the vulnerabilities in global supply chains and many organizations have had to make quick transformation decisions, to manage risk and ensure seamless business continuity. Wipro understands these challenges, and remains committed to help enterprises modernize their supply chains and make their operations more resilient,” said Harish Dwarkanhalli, President, Applications & Data, iDEAS, Wipro Limited,” said Harish Dwarkanhalli, President, Applications & Data, iDEAS, Wipro Limited.

Aside from this IDC recognition, Wipro has also recently achieved the Leader rank in the NelsonHall NEAT vendor evaluation for SAP Cloud Migration Services in the Overall, Legacy Migration Capability, and S/4HANA Transformation Capability market segments.

The 2021 NelsonHall Vendor Evaluation & Assessment Tool (NEAT) analyzed the performance of vendors offering SAP cloud migration services namely Atos, Capgemini, Cognizant, DXC Technology, EPAM Systems, Infosys, LTI, Mindtree, Mphasis, NTT DATA, TCS, Tech Mahindra, T-Systems, Wipro, and Yash Technologies.

Wipro Limited (Wipro), an SAP Global Services Partner since 2007, has achieved the Leader rank in the NelsonHall NEAT vendor evaluation for SAP Cloud Migration Services in the Overall, Legacy Migration Capability, and S/4HANA Transformation Capability market segments. In the report, the Indian multinational IT firm was ahead of the other vendors evaluated on both the ‘ability to deliver immediate benefit’ and the ‘ability to meet client future requirements’.

“Wipro’s performance in NelsonHall’s evaluation validates our strong product offerings and capabilities in digital. The continued success of Wipro in rankings such as this demonstrates our ability to deliver large transformation programs, that empower global companies to be successful in an ever-changing business climate,” said Harish Dwarkanhalli, President, Applications & Data, Wipro Limited.

Leveraging several years of SAP S/4HANA services expertise, Wipro has focused on enabling organizations’ digital transformation journey through SAP offerings. It also aims to be a top-two provider in select industries that require SAP services.

SAP Cloud Migration Services Evaluation

Strategic sourcing managers utilized the NEAT in evaluating the capability of the 15 vendors across a range of criteria and business situations. Upon assessment, the vendors were identified in 1 of 4 categories– Leaders, High Achievers, Innovators, and Major Players– across the Overall, Legacy Migration Capability, and S/4HANA Transformation Capability market segments.

“Wipro is developing strong competitive positioning through a focus on select targeted geographies and industry sectors for its SAP services. This has allowed it to invest in capabilities and build offerings tailored for these high potential markets to demonstrate its in-depth understanding of their particular needs,” shared David McIntire – IT Services Research Director, NelsonHall.

As a long-time partner of SAP, Wipro has delivered SAP services to around 600 clients globally and has about 13,000 SAP-skilled employees, including approximately 9,200 with SAP S/4HANA capabilities. For CY 2019, NelsonHall estimates that Wipro’s SAP cloud migration services revenues account for 25{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} of total SAP revenues ($330m).

Despite the challenges related to skilled workforce and SAP on Google Cloud Platform, the report identified Wipro’s strengths that contributed to its Leader status:

  • Focused market approach
  • Committed industry offering development
  • Investing in building a skilled workforce
  • Focus on support of diverse migration approaches
  • Mature SAP and cloud asset portfolio

The NEAT report also shared Wipro’s strategy on growing its SAP cloud migration practice by investing in its capabilities across the following areas:

  • Expanding industrial production transformation capabilities through SAP
  • Building capabilities for coupling application modernization and data center exit
  • Assessing potential targeted inorganic growth

Coming from an extraordinary year that has put a halt on many IT investments and delays on SAP transformation, vendors of SAP cloud migration services are expected to see a better year. In 2021, clients are projected to return focus on SAP ERP cloud migration services to drive cost reduction and accelerate digital transformation. The SAP ERP cloud migration services market is forecasted to grow ~16.6{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} CAAGR to reach $19.4bn by 2025. SAP S/4HANA adoption is also projected to accelerate as the 2027 end of support deadline nears.

Wipro, a key SAP business partner which has been SAP’s Global Strategic Services Partner since 2007, announces its plan to transition its core SAP enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to SAP’s cloud-based S/4HANA solution, migrate the workloads to Google Cloud Platform, and roll out G Suite as a workplace productivity platform for its more than 180,000 employees.

Wipro president and COO Bhanumurthy B.M. said,

“We are upgrading our entire ERP systems to suit our new business requirements and migrating them to Google Cloud. It’s a big part of our roadmap.

This roadmap is the Indian multinational IT company’s internal transformation program, called Project Quantum—launched in 2006 and revamped this year—that aims to transform the company’s various business processes and operations across finance, sales, delivery, human resources, and other departments.

Bhanumurthy adds,

“As a provider of digital transformation services to some of the world’s most impactful businesses, it is critical that our own core systems and technologies are running on intelligent and modern platforms that encompass the needs of the future. This transformation program will help us to run our most business-critical workloads and applications with speed and agility, and to support our customers more effectively.”

In a report, research director at analyst firm NelsonHall, David McIntire, comments that the move will allow Wipro to gain customers’ trust and develop reusable assets in a relatively low-risk environment.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud said,

“Wipro is embracing digital transformation at speed and scale. By modernising their core systems and technologies with Google Cloud, they have a powerful and scalable foundation to accelerate their strategic enterprise priorities and build for the future.”

Bhanumurthy also notes that Wipro has already developed the toolsets needed to help customers simplify the migration of their SAP workloads to Google Cloud.

Moreover, Rob Enslin, Google Cloud’s president of global customer operations said that the move can be done in as little as six weeks, up to four months.

A Look at Wipro’s Business Partnerships with SAP and Google

Wipro has been enhancing value with industry-leading solutions for the utilities, mining, manufacturing and the consumer business sectors with SAP since 2007. The company is a certified SAP solutions reseller in the Middle East, India, Germany and Latin America. It is also a Global Partner for hosting, cloud, infrastructure operations, AMS and HANA operations and a global BPO partner for SAP Ariba.

The SAP business partner offers industry-specific solutions with help from its more than 1,025 trained consultants on SAP HANA and S/4HANA. As part of its Project Quantum program, the company also recently invested heavily in the implementation of SAP HANA applications across departments to accelerate its digital transformation and speed up operations.

The technology provider has also been a long-time Google Cloud partner and recently announced an enhanced alliance that expands its strategic partnership to target enterprise customers across industry verticals such as consumer goods and banking, financial services and insurance, alongside semi-conductor and healthcare sectors.
