SaaS-based software testing and delivery specialist Panaya has opened four new offices in Singapore, Beijing, Shenzhen and Shanghai, to meet a 150 per cent increase in demand for its enterprise agile delivery solutions.

The company has recently signed a number of new customers for its software testing tools, including several Chinese pharmaceutical, consumer electronics and home appliance companies, as well as an international bank and insurance company based in the Philippines.

Rajesh Handu has been appointed the vice president of South East Asia, South Asia, Hong Kong and Korea to help drive growth for Panaya in the region. Previously, he served as managing director of Asia for NICE Systems, building a high-performance team that achieved 25 per cent market growth last year, and successfully closing high-growth strategic accounts.

“I am excited to join Panaya to spread our unique consultative approach that helps IT delivery software changes effectively while introducing new initiatives that create a competitive edge,” Handu said.

“Many Asian companies are going global, and to automate international business processes they need to implement software delivery tools that will enable their enterprise applications to scale up while adapting quickly to business changes,” said Moshe Leder, executive vice president, APAC and Japan.

“Rajesh’s leadership and proven experience in addressing custom needs and building long-term business relationships in the region will help Panaya grow its regional business.”

Software record, rewind and replay technology from UK-headquartered Undo will be incorporated into the automated environment for SAP’s HANA in-memory platform, under a new deal between the two companies.

With millions of lines of code in the SAP HANA product, and hundreds of developers around the world tasked with working on the product, SAP needed a fast and efficient way to identify and fix coding errors.

The integration with Undo’s Live Recorder will now allow the HANA group to record exact copies of issues that appear during extreme stress testing of the platform, with the information then used to resolve issues faster and more easily.

“It will allow our internal development teams to collaborate more easily when fixing issues, whilst dramatically boosting development productivity and allowing more time to concentrate on innovation for the next generation of HANA,” said Daniel Schneiss, global head of SAP HANA development, SAP.

The selection by SAP is a win for Undo, as the first time its technology has been optimise testing within large complex databases.

“As companies like SAP move their products to the cloud, improving software quality and reducing time to fix issues that occur becomes business-critical,” said Greg Law, co-founder and CEO, Undo. “SAP’s decision to use Live Recorder is a great example of how software quality can help large enterprise software companies maintain a competitive advantage in a crowded marketplace. Live Recorder dramatically improves traditional testing methods by helping developers find defects as the software is being written.”

Undo’s Live Recorder solution can record all or part of a Linux or Android program’s execution for subsequent replay and analysis. It captures an exact recording of why a test failed, allowing developers to go back in time to any instruction in the program’s history and view any location in memory. Recordings can be analysed on a different machine to the one on which the error occurred, making triage and analysis of failures much quicker, easier and more effective.

Panaya has released a new end-to-end testing platform designed specifically for SAP and Oracle ERP platforms.

Already being used in production by 80 global customers, the cloud-based Panaya Test Center covers the entire functional testing spectrum, including unit testing, system integration testing, regression testing and user acceptance testing.

According to Panaya, the solution provides organisations with the ability to perform all testing activities faster, for both functional experts and business users, reducing overall testing expenses by 30 per cent.

“Our end-to-end platform staunches the haemorrhage of time and money previously wasted on manual approaches,” said Doron Gerstel, CEO, Panaya. “The cloud-based technology means they don’t have to install anything and can hit the ground running. The recent wave of customer replacing traditional testing tools such as HPQC is evidence to its true value.”

The platform has also received the stamp of approval from analyst firm 451 Research, which said in a research report that the Panaya Test Center is a leading solution for “postmodern ERP testing”.

“Papaya’s software compliments SAP’s own test workbench by marking it even easier for nontechnical users to create and document their own test scripts, which is to be welcomed as companies look to digitally transform their processes, putting end users at the centre of agile application change,” wrote Katy Ring, research director of IT services, 451 Group.
