SAP Korea is collaborating with JUMP to promote job competencies development and deliver the social value of providing fair opportunities through a mentoring program.

Through the years, SAP has been driving initiatives that champion inclusivity. The SAP Global Corporate Social Responsibility has brought technology innovation and education to the youth and young workforce, focusing on three strategic program pillars– building digital skills, accelerating nonprofits and social enterprises, and connecting employees with purpose.

SAP CSR partners with select nonprofit and social enterprises in the areas of quality education, workforce preparedness, and youth entrepreneurship. The German software company aims to accelerate selected partners’ ability to drive sustainable social impact and systemic change by providing skills, technology expertise, and access to markets.

SAP Korea Empowering the Youth

In Korea, SAP has recently partnered with JUMP, a non-profit educational social venture, for a mentoring program aptly called SAP Value Start Mentoring. Broadly similar to SAP CSR’s thrust on powering opportunity through digital inclusion, JUMP aims to bridge the educational gap among young people with the vision of fair educational opportunity without discrimination.

Joining SAP Korea in the SAP Value Start Mentoring program are SAP Labs Korea and KSUG. Together, they will support the JUMP Alumni to become exceptional young professionals.

Eui-Hun Lee, CEO of JUMP, said:

“I am deeply grateful that global companies such as SAP Korea are taking the lead in nurturing future generations at a time when young people are struggling with employment due to COVID-19. I hope that the JUMP Alumni who worked hard for this mentoring program will grow into members of society who have a good influence.”

KSUG Chairman Kim Hong-ki expressed:

“I am very happy that KSUG can participate in this ‘SAP Value Start Mentoring’ and realize the meaningful social value of ‘Providing Fair Opportunities’ with partners. We will continue to work hard to achieve greater social innovation through cooperation and communication between them.”

Instilling Purpose

In SAP, 94{aa282f308afcc222aaa21b0478c79e01a8fedd01972e2180867097bd93930f22} of employees recognise the importance of pursuing purpose and sustainability. In 2020, amid the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic, more than 20,000 SAP employees dedicated 136,000 hours of service across the world engaging in volunteerism and learning experiences. SAP has also built capacity for 1,567 innovative nonprofit organisations and social enterprises across 80 countries and has impacted 8.3 million lives through the company’s CSR programs last year.

The SAP Value Start Mentoring program is one example of SAP CSR initiatives that empower employees to realise their sense of purpose. From June to December, employees of SAP Korea, SAP Labs Korea, and KSUG get to participate in the social project as mentors. Conducted as non-face-to-face, the program has two categories: Career Explorer and Small Group Mentoring.

Career Explorer is designed for job seekers and college students crafting their future career pathways. Participants will take part in the 4-6 weeks of intensive mentoring focused on job competency and career development. On the other hand, Small Group Mentoring is designed for mentees and mentors sharing the same interests. During the program, they will tackle specific topics and exchange insights about their career goals. It will be held 2 to 3 times a month, for a total of 20 engagements.

A new solution from Indian tech giant Tech Mahindra aims to enable companies to deliver produce as fresh as possible by enabling real-time tracking and interaction through the supply chain.

The fresh food supply chain is complicated by a multitude of players, stringent regulatory compliance, and lack of end-to-end visibility, which leads to high wastage and product ageing by the time the produce reaches consumers.

Built on the HANA Cloud Platform, the Fresh Produce End to End Digital Supply Chain (FEEDS) will help producers to maintain product quality and freshness while providing a 15 to 20 per cent reduction in losses and wastes, according to Tech Mahindra.

The FEEDS solution is a product of collaboration between Tech Mahindra and the SAP Co-Innovation Labs, and is integrated with SAP’s ERP system to utilise digital levers including mobility, Internet of Things and big data.

Global produce supply chains, large retailers and food manufacturing clients are expected to be key customers of the solution.

“Freshness is a key differentiator for fresh produce as it impacts the consumer perception of the brand. The lack of holistic visibility breeds inefficiencies in the complex modern day food supply chain. Our rich domain expertise combined with the strong technology prowess of SAP digital platform provides an ideal combination to deliver unique and unparalleled benefits to our clients,” said Rohit Khanna, senior vice president, global retail and CPG, Tech Mahindra.

“Tech Mahindra has invested in multiple industry-specific cloud platforms using SAP Digital and IoT stacks. FEEDS is our flagship digital offering for retail and CPG sector. Built on ‘mobile first’ strategy, high emphasis has been laid on the usability standards achieved through Design Thinking. Similar offerings are being launched in other sectors to help clients bridge gaps in their digital strategy to execution,” said Krishna Kumaraswamy, senior vice president and global head – SAP practice, Tech Mahindra.
