Fujitsu, a global leader in digital transformation, has revolutionized its procurement function by implementing SAP Ariba Guided Buying. This strategic move has not only streamlined the company’s procurement processes but has also enabled Fujitsu to successfully channel spend towards its First Nations suppliers, demonstrating its commitment to building a more inclusive and diverse supply chain.

Prior to the implementation of SAP Ariba Guided Buying, Fujitsu’s procurement process was decentralized, resulting in limited visibility of its supply chain. This posed significant challenges when it came to channeling spend to their First Nations partners. The company recognized the need for a platform that would establish a single source of truth for all company spend and associated data, empowering employees and managers to make informed decisions while driving forward business strategies and initiatives with purpose.

Nicole Forrester, VP of Purpose, People and Culture at Fujitsu Asia Pacific, emphasizes the impact of the SAP solution, stating that it has provided a platform for Fujitsu to support its diverse supply chain strategy, ultimately enabling the increase of spend with First Nations suppliers.

Overcoming Procurement Challenges with SAP Ariba Guided Buying

To create a more inclusive and diverse supply chain, Fujitsu collaborated with the Indigenous Defence & Infrastructure Consortium (iDiC), an organization dedicated to developing sustainable Indigenous businesses across Australia. Together, they developed a First Nations Supplier portal, providing a dedicated buying channel for Fujitsu’s First Nations suppliers.

Adam Goodes, Chief Executive Officer of iDiC, highlights the significance of this implementation, noting that it represents a meaningful commitment to supporting First Nations people. He believes that Fujitsu’s new guided buying system will provide long-term support and opportunities for Indigenous businesses and communities, contributing to a more equitable future.

Collaboration and Innovation: The Key to Success

Since launching the First Nations Supplier portal, Fujitsu has witnessed remarkable results. The company has increased its spend with First Nations suppliers from $200,000 to an impressive $5.1 million over the last few years. Additionally, Fujitsu has also increased its spend with SME partners to $12.5 million per annum.

The implementation of SAP Ariba Guided Buying has not only benefited Fujitsu’s diverse supply chain but has also streamlined and automated the company’s procurement processes. By establishing a standardized hub for end-to-end procurement activities, Fujitsu has reduced new vendor processing time by over 65%, allowing staff to focus on more strategic tasks. Moreover, the creation of a central contract repository has led to over 2,000 active contract workspaces, with 30% of contracts operationalized for downstream procure to pay.

Angela Colantuono, President and Managing Director of SAP ANZ, recognizes the transformative potential of SAP Ariba for organizations striving for operational excellence and a more equitable, sustainable world. She acknowledges that while there is still work to be done to better support First Nations peoples in Australia and New Zealand, Fujitsu’s implementation of SAP Ariba demonstrates the power of technology in driving purposeful procurement and the meaningful impact it can have on the communities in which it operates.

The Future of Procurement at Fujitsu

Looking ahead, Fujitsu plans to continue leveraging SAP Ariba to create hubs for operational support and standardization of business processes, empowering teams across the Asia-Pacific region. This aligns with the company’s goal of creating a truly centralized and consolidated business that enables a diverse supply chain.

By embracing SAP Ariba Guided Buying, Fujitsu has not only transformed its procurement function but has also set a powerful example for other organizations seeking to make a positive impact on their communities. The company’s success story serves as a testament to the potential of technology in driving purposeful procurement and creating a more equitable and sustainable future for all.

This week, the German enterprise software giant made the announcement that Angela Colantuono has been promoted as the Senior Vice President (SVP) and Head of SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite in the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region.

Now joining the SAP Regional Team headed by SAP APJ President Paul Marriott, the former Head of SAP SuccessFactors Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) Angela Colantuono will be responsible for developing the company’s regional go-to-market strategy, leading a team of world-class professionals, and ensuring that the organization is efficiently serving clients throughout APJ. According to Colantuono, helping businesses address clients’ requirements, engage in competitive markets, and respond to changes in the industry by establishing a productive workforce is one of her passions. She noted that this is how she plans to eventually support customers.

“HR leaders are being called to go beyond the traditional tools of HR and human capital management, and create work experiences that drive not only engagement and productivity, but also sustainability and profitability,” Colantuono further remarked.

In a LinkedIn post, Colantuono said that she considers it an honor to be able to work alongside SAP APJ President Paul Marriott and the outstanding SAP Regional Team as they continue to support clients in developing the workforce agility that is necessary for them to keep updated with new ways of doing things. She also acknowledged SAP ANZ President and Managing Director Damien Bueno and SAP ANZ Head of Industries Pete Andrew for their contributions — together with those of the senior leadership team — to the development of a great atmosphere for women to thrive and achieve their ambitions.

Angela Colantuono Promoted as Head of SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite

It is also worth noting that Colantuono takes on the responsibilities that were previously held by Aaron Green, who was promoted to the position of Chief Marketing and Solutions Officer (CMSO) for SAP SuccessFactors. Additionally, Green disclosed in a post that he published on LinkedIn that he is really enthusiastic about the field of HXM and the ways in which businesses can improve talent engagement as a tool to generate more meaningful results.

“I could not be more excited to start this new chapter of my career at SAP SuccessFactors and the opportunity to change work for good with this incredible team,” he said.

Commenting on the appointment of Colantuono as the new SVP and Head of SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite in the region, Marriott welcomed his colleague’s extensive knowledge and experience in human capital management (HCM), and her solid leadership track record.

“With flexible work arrangements here to stay, organisations are increasingly focused on building and strengthening a supportive work environment, and a culture that prioritises employee wellbeing. In a turbulent environment, where the rapidly evolving nature of work continually creates new challenges, organisations are prioritising the experience of their total workforce,” Marriott concluded.

The cloud-based SAP SuccessFactors Suite provides services to more than 218 million people throughout the world, using 45 different languages. These services include core human resources (HR) and payroll, talent management, HR analytics and workforce planning, and employee experience management (XM).

Moreover, the solutions aim to provide individualized experiences that keep people engaged, growing, efficient, and interconnected to help employers establish the workforce agility that is vital to maintain constant innovation. SAP SuccessFactors earned consecutive recognitions in December 2021 from the analyst companies Forrester and Gartner, which further strengthened its position in the HCM and talent management market category.

SAP HR management strategies have been recognised by Top Employers Institute, the global authority on recognising excellence in people practices, as one of the global top employers for four consecutive years.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put extreme pressure on many organisations to act expeditiously to ensure that the company and its people survive and thrive during the most challenging year in recent history. In the tumultuous journey to recovery, HR has been front and center of many companies’ initiatives and strategies– from educating the people about the novel coronavirus to finding the best-fit remote working tools that would empower employees and drive business success.

Amid the uncertainties and disruptions that the pandemic has created, software giant SAP remained steadfast in helping enterprises run better and, most importantly, in providing a great workplace for its people. Top Employers Institute unveiled the Global Top Employers 2021 and named SAP as one of the 16 leading organisations recognised for their outstanding HR strategies and people practices.

The Top Employers Institute Certification Programme assesses companies’ people practices through the independently audited and fact-based HR Best Practices Survey. The survey covers six domains and 20 subtopics across the entire HR spectrum such as people strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, learning, well-being, diversity and inclusion, and others.

This year, Top Employers Institute certified 1,691 organisations in 120 countries and regions that have created a positive impact on the lives of over seven million employees globally.

SAP HR Enabling Success

With SAP’s global operations that span across 130 countries, the recognition highlighted the locations wherein the company exemplified best people practices. These are: Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, India, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, the UK, and the U.S.

In addition, SAP North America and Europe have also achieved Regional Top Employer status.

Sabine Bendiek, Chief People Officer and member of the Executive Board of SAP SE, shared how the SAP HR team approached the challenges in 2020. She said:

“Digital transformation starts with people. I’m proud that the HR team at SAP adapted to the headwinds of 2020 with agility, resilience, and empathy. By lifting our workforce in challenging times, ensuring the highest engagement levels, and putting the health of our employees first, the HR team has proven itself to be a true enabler for business success.”

Elke Manjet, Global Head of Talent Attraction at SAP, emphasised that their ultimate goal in HR is to create an amazing experience for the German company’s current and future employees.

“Our core belief is that the most diverse teams deliver the most innovative and most user-friendly outcomes. Every day we strive to make our workplace more inclusive and to foster an environment where people can grow and shape tomorrow together, turning SAP’s mission of ‘making the world run better and improve people’s lives’ into reality,” Manjet added.

SAP has released new enhancements to its revenue accounting platform designed to help CFOs and chief accounting officers comply with the new IFRS 15/ASC 606 standards.

“CFOs are facing a perfect storm of accounting regulation, with three major International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) standards converging in rapid succession. Time to implement these new processes is running out,” said Gina McNamara, chief financial officer, SAP Australia and New Zealand.

“It takes approximately 18 months for the average Fortune 1000 company to make a change of this magnitude, and we just passed that point in the countdown to the mandatory effective date of the new standards. Corporate finance departments should act now to ensure that they are prepared for the transition and have the right tools to automate and simplify the process.”

The new IFRS 15, IFRS 16 and IFRS 9 accounting standards will apply to all entities – public, private and not-for-profit – that have contracts with customers and will supersede virtually all current revenue accounting requirements.

The SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting application is the first in a series of IFRS solutions designed to help finance executives comply.

The IFRS 15 revenue recognition standard eliminates the transaction and industry-specific revenue recognition guidance under current US GAAP and replaces it with a principle-based approach for determining revenue recognition. The rule, which generally takes effect in 2018 for public companies and 2019 for private companies, can affect companies’ reported revenue, how and when they report financial performance, and overall financial decision-making, and will require multiple quarters of testing and preparation.

New features in SAP’s Revenue Accounting and Reporting 1.2 release include cost recognition, capitalised costs integration with project systems and results analysis from SAP, improved contract combination and modification capabilities, and integration with service and billing scenarios in the SAP CRM application, as well as advanced features to assist in the transition to IFRS 15.
