SAP has reported a 40 per cent increase in deal involving multiple SAP Hybris cloud solutions in the first half of 2017, compared to the same time last year.

The vendor is attributing this strong growth to more pressure on businesses to meet consumers’ expectations for convenient and personalised experiences, leading to increased investment in front office technologies, as well as enhancements across the Hybris portfolio of sales, service, commerce, marketing and revenue.

Among the customers embracing Hybris solutions this year are Arsenal Football Club, whose transformation of its online retail site brought an 86 per cent increase in mobile transactions and a 42 per cent increase in sales as a whole.

Infonavit, the largest mortgage lender in Latin America, has used SAP HANA, predictive analytics, SAP Hybris Service Cloud and the Hybris Billing solution, to provide a true omnichannel customer experience, while multinational energy and services company Centrica extended its SAP solution footprint to include SAP Hybris Billing, SAP Ariba solutions and SAP Digital Boardroom.

“We have the most complete portfolio for the front office today,” said Carsten Thoma, president and cofounder of SAP Hybris. “We offer an unparalleled range of capability areas and enhancements to our solutions through better unification and integration across the SAP suite – to harvest big data and provide contextual customer experience, but also to capitalise on new business models such as those driven by the subscription economy.”

SAP has acquired marketing measurement and optimisation software provider Abakus, with plans to incorporate the company’s patented game theory-based attribution technology into SAP Hybris Marketing.

The technology supports forecasting for budget planning and optimisation, and within Hybris marketing will provide the data to understand and automate marketing opportunities. While the Abakus software will continue to be available as a stand-alone product, the integration of the Abakus technology will assist CMOs and CFOs to understand customer interactions across all devices and the incremental value of marketing on business outcomes.

“Our goal is to offer the first omni-channel customer engagement solution on the market that helps our customers drive contextual experiences that lead to measurable business value,” said Brian Walker, chief strategy officer. “Marketers need a trusted solution to understand what is driving sales – one based on real data, not ad-hoc models – to ensure they are using the optimal mix of marketing channels and messages.”

According to SAP Hybris, with the integration of Abakus, customers will benefit from an end-to-end marketing cloud solution that provides a single unified view of the customer across disparate systems, automation of planning, personalisation and optimisation, and advanced analytics attribution to show what is driving sales.

“We are delighted to join the global SAP family and look forward to integrating Abakus with SAP Hybris Marketing,” said Alex Saldanha, CEO and co-founder, Abakus. “The acquisition is a result of the alignment of our two companies’ visions to solve for customer centric marketing performance through real-time software. We look forward to delivering even greater value to Abakus and SAP customers through this merger.”

The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2017, with the Abakus technology to be integrated into Hybris at this time.

SAP is promising business excellence, enterprise optimisation and an improved path to digital transformation with the launch of new services in its enterprise Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), as well as delivery of the first milestones in its partnership with Apple.

The new services include support for virtual machines, prebuilt integrations for Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway, beta versions of workflow and business rules services as well as smart data streaming for high-speed Internet of Things (IoT) scenarios.

According to SAP, these features enable enterprises to bridge on-premise and cloud landscapes, extend existing technology investments to deliver channels such as mobile and IoT and drive new digital transformation initiatives.

“The new business services can help our customers to fully embrace their innovation agenda at development speed and deployment flexibility that they have never seen from SAP before, making our SAP HANA Cloud Platform even more attractive to enterprises on their digital transformation journey,” said Bjoern Goerke, president, SAP HANA cloud platform, SAP.

The new business services include beta versions of SAP HANA Cloud Platform workflow service and business rule functionality, designed to facilitate connections between business functions and users, and allow business process changes without downtime, as well as SAP Data Quality Management microservices for location data, which allows validation and enrichment for addresses and geocodes.

Other new capabilities include smart data streaming, predictive analytics delivery and the SAP Smart Business service, providing access to and management of key performance indicators in real time.

Apple partnership bears fruit

SAP and Apple have also completed the first deliverables of their partnership, designed to provide early adopters with access to critical enterprise data and processes to enable them to take immediate action using their iPhone and iPad.

These programs include the new SAP HANA Cloud Platform SDK for iOS and SAP Academy for iOS, which provides education, training and tools for developers.

Shoppers Stop has partnered with hybris software to implement the hybris commerce platform and its data management technology.

Over the next three years, Shoppers Stop will extend its omni-channel strategy to group companies HomeStop, Hypercity and Crossword, and by 2020, the company hopes to achieve 15 per cent revenue through digital touchpoints.
