Soterion’s Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) solutions are for organizations of any size and complexity. Soterion’s core offering is an SAP access risk tool, with a focus on converting the technical GRC language into a business-friendly language, to enhance business buy-in and accountability of access risk. This functionality enables clients to effectively manage their SAP authorization solution, by providing the necessary visibility for business accountability of SAP access risk.

Soterion’s GRC Solutions

Soterion’s solution suite enables organizations to gain visibility and effectively manage their access risk exposure. Download our brochure for more details on all of the following solutions.

  • Access Risk Manager

The Access Risk Manager includes core access risk control features to manage SAP access risk. These include identification (Identify Risk), risk remediation (Get Clean), user access change management (Stay Clean simulations), and risk mitigation (Stay in Control).

  • Elevated Rights Manager

The Elevated Rights Manager grants sensitive fire-fighting access in an automated workflow-driven process, and enables your management team to perform a structured review of any activities that were performed during the Elevated Rights Access period.

  • Periodic Review Manager

The Periodic Review Manager allows business users to review access in the context of risk and business processes, ensuring informed and effective decision making. This business-friendly process is easily managed using progress dashboards to expedite the review process. This process will significantly enhance the insight into your GRC environment, as well as being an audit and statutory requirement for many organizations.

  • Central Identity Manager

The Central Identity Manager introduces the Business Role concept to improve efficiencies in the SAP user provisioning process. Standardization of job functions across the organization reduces complexity and the effort required to manage and review SAP user access. The Central User Administration functionality further reduces the support effort and cost to manage user access across the SAP landscape, including non-productive SAP systems.

  • Data Privacy Manager

Manage personal data in SAP and monitor which SAP users have access to sensitive personal information. The Data Privacy Manager analyses all tables in SAP and highlights those that contain fields with personal or sensitive information, categorizing the data by Data Domain (such as bank details, email addresses and ID numbers) and per Data Subject (business partner, vendor, customer, employee and SAP user).

  • Password Self-Service

Soterion provides users with the ability to reset their SAP passwords. This vastly reduces the burden on the authorization support team, saving cost and time. The self-service functionality reduces business down-time by empowering users to reset passwords instantly.

  • Basis Review Manager

SAP Basis Configurations provide system-level controls to secure an SAP system. The Basis Review Manager compares your SAP Basis configuration to an industry best-practice set of rules. Since these configurations usually form part of an annual external audit, our Basis Review Manager will allow you to be prepared, and will establish complete compliance to avoid adverse audit findings.

  • SAP License Manager

The SAP License Manager identifies under-utilized and incorrectly classified SAP User accounts by monitoring user activity in SAP for effective license optimization. This ensures optimal contract management and compliance whilst reducing unplanned and excess costs.

SAP has improved secure authentication and data handling with a newly released version of SAP Single Sign-On.

The application provides secure authentication with one strong password and additional security factors, all administered through one central protected place. According to SAP, it delivers cost savings by reducing the need for manual authentication, password resets and helpdesk interactions.

Among the improvements in the new version of the SAP Single Sign-On are enhanced integration with existing enterprise public key infrastructure implementations, expanded support for mobile devices, automated certificate lifecycle management for the SAP NetWeaver Application Server for ABAP, a new encryption-only mode to ensure continuously secure communications, a new secure web client to easily integrate cloud and on-premise single sign-on scenarios, and enhancements for cryptographic capabilities and security protocols.

SAP has announced an access analysis service, SAP Cloud Identity Access Governance, which is the first in a series of cloud-based governance, risk and compliance services the company plans to release to address the growing need for identity-as-a-service (IDaaS).

Built on the SAP HANA Cloud Platform (HCP), the first new service is designed to simplify access governance and to help organisations centrally manage identities and assess and mitigate risks to optimise compliance processes across the enterprise.

“We are building upon our extensive experience with GRC and security to help customers harness the latest security and performance benefits of SAP HANA Cloud Platform,” said Kevin McCollom, head of solution management for GRC solutions, SAP.

SAP Cloud Identity Access Governance is designed to optimise user system assignments to align with both organisation and compliance policies. According to SAP, the service will help businesses avoid potential expensive access issues such as those involving financial losses and fraud. At the same time, it will reduce the ongoing operating costs of auditing and compliance.

The cloud deployment will ensure that businesses can quickly identify and address critical access issues as well as potentially costly segregation-of-duty conflicts. Customers will have the ability to dynamically refine or remove incorrect or unused user roles, which will enable organisations to lower audit costs while ensuring ongoing compliance.

The new access analysis service, scheduled for general release in Q3 2016, will work in conjunction with existing cloud identity solution, SAP HCP single sign-on, which provides cloud-based secure authentication. Together, they are designed to help organisations simplify identity management across a cloud and on-premise environment.

The new series of services is being designed to be employed independently or in combination, enabling organisations to expand their identity and access governance services to match their own functional requirements and pace of growth.

SAP partner Highbar Technologies, based in Mumbai, has deployed SAP e-governance solutions at the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB).

GSPCB had a vision to achieve paperless governance, which was brought to life through Highball’s e-portal Sustainable Workflow Platform, through which all approvals will be facilitated online.

By helping the Board to be more efficient, this major digital initiative will ensure paperless and transparent governance, reducing unnecessary delays, and making the process more seamless.

“It is a proud moment for us as we are the only government department to go paperless after the Legislative Assembly of Goa,” said Jose Manuel Noronha, chairman, GSPCB. “This initiative is a major leap towards our commitment of making the board more accountable and approachable for the residents of Goa. By discarding the paper-based system we are also doing our part in saving trees from being cut as unnecessary paper use leads to wastage.”

Salish Pendse, president, Highbar Technologies said the GSPCB SAP implementation demonstrates the company’s success in the government vertical.

“Paving the way for e-governance at the Board comes as a true testimony to our practice of treating IT deployment as a business transformation initiative. The Goa State Pollution Control Board’s support has been very encouraging to achieve this remarkable feat. We are sure the deployment of SAP and this initiative will motivate other State Pollution Control Boards and government offices adopt a digital transformation journey,” Pendse said.

The Goa State Pollution Control Board oversees waste management, and monitoring and control of air and water quality in the small Indian state of Goa.
