HCL Technologies has signed a global reseller agreement with SAP SE to resell its maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) solution, targeted at asset operators such as aviation, aerospace, defence and repair businesses.

The solution, carrying the hefty title of SAP Enterprise Asset Management (SAP EAM), add-on for MRO by HCL for SAP S/4HANA, is the product of 15 years of work by HCL with global customers in this market. By bringing together management of maintenance programs, configuration management, and MRO execution with line and base maintenance as well as maintenance for engines, complex assets, and compounds, the add-on assists with maximising asset utilisation, reducing cost of regulatory compliance, decreasing costs of collaboration with vendors and part suppliers, and reducing total cost of system ownership.

“The unique set of benefits for enterprises migrating to SAP S/4HANA includes the far-reaching capabilities of SAP EAM, add-on for MRO by HCL for SAP S/4HANA, to connect the full complement of maintenance, repair and overhaul of complex assets with manufacturing, product support, finance as well as logistics management functions,” said Ajit Kumar, president – applications and systems integration services, HCL Technologies.

“This solution dramatically streamlines the operational landscape for enterprises by helping to shorten the timeline needed for development and implementation project cycles on SAP S/4HANA – which can accelerate time to market for launching cost savings and improved efficiency initiatives.”

“The expertise and capability that HCL has as a partner and as an independent software vendor made it a natural choice to develop this add-on for the MRO solution,” said Christoph Behrendt, executive vice president, industry and application innovation, SAP SE. “The add-on solution will help companies to more easily meet regulatory requirements and drive maintenance efficiency while fully leveraging the benefits of the digital environment of SAP S/4HANA.”

SAP consulting and solutions firm Utegration has released its Mobius field order application on the SAP Cloud Platform to enable utility companies to improve workforce efficiency in the field, while reducing response times, penalties and costs.

The application, which integrates with the SAP Enterprise Asset Management solution, enables field technicians to access and update orders and obtain directions and other important information on multiple devices online or offline in case of a weak or no wireless signal. It also enables technicians to interact with other employees in real time and to track time spent on orders more accurately.

“Utegration is pleased to offer our customers a solution that will allow their employees to work more easily and efficiently, while reducing costs and improving customer service,” said Bin Yu, president and CEO, Utegration.

Part of Utegration’s digital asset and work management practice, the Mobius field order app is the Houston-based company’s second application on the SAP Cloud Platform, the first being Mobius Customer Self-Service, which enables customers to view their balance, pay their bill and make a service request. The field order app is also available in an on-premise version. Using SAPUI5 design, it provides a user-friendly interface that can be customised to meet a utility’s individual requirements.
