Leading provider of data integration software for SAP, BOARD International, is reinforcing its strategic focus on the US with its new dual headquarters located in Boston in addition to the company’s longstanding Chiasso, Switzerland location.

“The year 2016 has seen tremendous growth for BOARD both in Europe and the US, and our strategic plans call for elevating our US revenues to at least 50 per cent of corporate revenues by 2019,” said BOARD CEO, Giovanni Grossi. “A Boston headquarters underscores our strategic commitment to that US growth with adequate space, staffing and funding to accommodate our rapid growth and expanded enterprise customer base.”

BOARD offers an integrated toolkit approach either on-premise or in the cloud to enable organisations to harness data from multiple sources from relational databases to cloud applications and from Big Data to cloud data stores. BOARD has designed a set of pre-built dedicated data connectors that minimise the time and effort required to access popular data sources such as SAP.

The BOARD SAP Connector enables users to easily access complex SAP data and use it in a single visual and interactive environment. These solutions can be made available enterprise-wide or they can be implemented for one specific area of the company only, such as Finance or Marketing, enabling non-technical users to access their complex SAP data, easily, flexibly and accurately.

BOARD, now on track to exceed 100 per cent growth by the end of the year, has deployed its BI and corporate performance management software platforms at such leading North American companies as Volkswagen, Eversource, Advanced Micro Devices, Cheesecake Factory, Harry & David, BioMarin Pharmaceuticals and Zales Jewelers.

“BOARD’s adoption by so many multi-billion dollar enterprises in the US has been another reason to co-locate our headquarters here in Boston,” said Scott Jennings, general manager, BOARD Americas.

BOARD attributes its explosive growth to increasing understanding of the importance of a unified enterprise-wide software platform for planning, forecasting and BI analytics that support data-driven decision making enterprise-wide.

At SAPPHIRE NOW this week, SAP announced it would be rebranding SAP Cloud for Analytics as SAP BusinessObjects Cloud, as part of a move to bring all its analytics solutions – cloud, mobile and on-premise – under the SAP BusinessObjects banner.

New capabilities have been added to the renamed offering, including new visualisations and storytelling, data wrangling and blending, geospatial, trend analysis, custom filters, linked stories, notifications and chat, as well as new planning features such as bidirectional integration with the SAP BPC application, new aggregation methods, enhanced allocations and distribution, and privacy controls. Online connection support for the SAP HANA platform allows users to perform analytics without having to move data into the cloud environment, while predictive analytics capabilities have also been added. The recently acquired Roambi mobile app is now available in the US as the SAP BusinessObjects Roambi mobile app, as part of the SAP BusinessObjects Cloud suite.

For on-premise customers, SAP has made its BusinessObjects Enterprise analytics offerings available in three new editions – premium, professional and standard – to provide scaled access to capabilities. Some of the new capabilities within this solution include support for over 200 data sources, including Hadoop, HANA and BusinessObjects Cloud, and access to big data enhancements to SAP BusinessObjects Lumira. Predictive analytics are also on the drawing board for this solution, as are automated predictive analysis of big data with native Spark modelling in Hadoop environments, enhancements for SAP HANA including in-database social network analysis, and a simplified UI and tools for predictive factory workflows.
